Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 3rd January 2022]

I am not. This guy is meant to be some sort of tactical genius yet we are getting out done at home by Wolves who bring on a baby oil bodybuilder.
Ok, that's a bit ott then Adam. He was undoubtedly overhyped when he was appointed with shouts of the godfather of German football and Klopp's mentor (which was simply untrue), I'm not sure he was ever called a tactical genius though.

He's a very good coach and club/squad builder that plays a very certain way. Unfortunately, as @manic111 touches on, you don't have a squad suited to playing how he plays. You joke about Traore but you've got a RB that's worse on the ball than many League 1 players, CM's that are massively lacking in technical ability and a mixture of can't run, won't run in attack (plus a captain and main CB that's slow and rubbish).

Utd have a lot of talented attacking players but most are prima donnas and the squad is unbalanced.

Perhaps he should quickly step aside then if he can’t do anything at all with the squad

I don't think that's feasible. He can't really go into a consulting role now and we appoint yet another manager...

He'll likely figure something out, perhaps a couple of signings this month would help things. He will have a say in the longer term direction of the club, so signings aren't a bad idea in that respect.

The squad was very balanced until Ronaldo came in. We needed a CDM in the summer and Sancho would have been the finishing touch.

Now we are trying to shoe horn Ronaldo into a team that doesn't work for him.
But you didn't get a CDM. You made the bonkers decision to spend a lot of money to get yet another wide forward instead, unbalancing the team still further

We need to sort the midfield out we've been over run there all season to be honest scotty ain't good enough but keeps playing Fred's been dropped but Scott hasn't he's had 1 good game against Burnley and then reverts back to normal it's a joke simply he's not good enough

We needed a right sided forward though. That gave us 4 attacking options plus Cavani Cameo. Rashford on the left with Martial and Sancho. Greenwood being the youngster to fit in between the left and center.

The development of all our forward players is going to be stunted by two years of Ronaldo. Martial has been left to rot since Ronaldo came back.

Rashford, Martial and Sancho?

All 3 have been very poor. I like Sancho and think he'll get better, but those 3 won't even get you close to top 4, nevermind anything else.

Rashford has been a joke of late. He's embarrassing.

Martial is just Martial, lots of talent, none of the effort.

Adam if you really think the squad was balanced before Ronnie came back your having a laugh how many attacking midfielders do we have remember lingard was at West ham 2nd half of last season because we were overloaded in that position yet ollie told him he was part of his plans then we only have matic as a proper dm and he's unfortunately past it now

I said at the time that signing Ronaldo was a big mistake, he's the least team player in football, a brilliant individual but absolutely zero interest in the team. The only reason Utd signed him was because they got wind he would be open to leave Juve and they couldn't take the chance City may have picked him up, I doubt very much Pep was remotely interested in him but it 'forced' Utd to swoop.

The problem for a long time is Man Utd have relied on individual brilliance to win games, Ole played the way of "we don't need tactics as one player will pull something out of their ass for me" and it worked to a certain degree as everytime he looked doomed they pulled a result out of the bag to keep him on a bit longer.

Ralf is going to need several seasons and transfer windows to sort this mess out as he'd need to replace the majority of the team but as he's only interim then I'm not sure he'd be backed enough this window.

That Shaw interview isn't good, moaning about his team mates and the manager. That's just what we need! :o

Ah well, never dull is it... (except on the pitch)

Sorry, but surely you needed a decent midfielder far, far more than a right sided forward. Greenwood and Martial could both do that job. You have no quality in midfield whatsoever. You're not even playing with a right sided forward at the moment!
