Carabao Cup - Semi Finals ** Spoilers ** [5/12/13/20 January 2022]

Pep's positive test was after the request to postpone the game and it's just been announced that we've had to close the entire training ground down now too after further positive tests.

Bit of a coincidence training ground has now been shut, nothing to do with putting more pressure on getting the game cancelled at all............
Its not even about this game, its about Klopp wanting to have a player break in this busy period and reset his squad for the rest of the season, this was the week to do it.
I would expect them to say they have no fit goalkeepers next throughout the whole club if shutting the training ground does not work.
All clubs are looking for an advantage anyway they can, Liverpool are not the first and won't be the last to use covid as an excuse to put them in a better position later on.

If the EFL called their bluff and refused the postponement, I wonder if they’d forfeit or if they’d magically turn up with enough players.

I personally find it hard to believe that Klopp has suddenly gone from the squad he had on Sunday to not even being able to field a side 2 days later.

If the postponement is granted and then Liverpool put out kids against Shrewsbury 3 days later then they should forfeit the tie as it becomes obvious they’re gaming the system.

Why should Liverpool forfeit the game when loads of PL games got postponed and no one is calling for forfeit's there.

Others have said Liverpool have only done it because they have no Salah and Mane, wonder if they realise the 2nd leg and probably a rearranged 1st leg will be when Salah and Mane are still at the AFCON.

Liverpool had 10 players out against Chelsea, 3 others now have gone to the AFCON, so 13, all 1st team players. More suspected cases yesterday, no idea on the amount, if rumours are to believed all the keepers have it.

First time Liverpool have asked for a postponement after already fielding weaker line ups against Spurs and Chelsea and people say they are gaming the system.

If Salah and Mane hadn't gone to the AFCON and just got covid no one would be moaning about Liverpool wanting this game called off.

I'm honestly amazed at how paranoid Arsenal fans are. I know the League Cup is the only trophy they have a hope in hell of winning but this is bordering on craziness now.

You're sounding more than a bit paranoid now. The training ground has been shut because after multiple positive tests yesterday (on the back of at least 7 in the days before), there have been even more positive tests last night and this morning. The club will have to prove these positive tests to the EFL so it's not as if they're faking it.

The EFL may turn around and say you have 4 dinner ladies and 9 u13s, you have to play but to think we're faking these covid tests to get out of a League Cup game and a FA Cup tie vs Shrewsbury is more than a little bit silly. Look at the team Klopp put out vs Leicester! We would have rested most of our key players in these games anyway! If we wanted to play the covid card to advantage us, we would have done it when several key players were missing vs Spurs or Chelsea in games that matter!

Klopp has already said he doesn't want games postponed, he said he didn't want the PL stopping for a week or two weeks when a host of other managers did, so why now does he want a game called off?

the amount of salty ******* crawling out of the woodwork because we've asked to postpone a game that in the grand scheme of things ranks probably 5th in our list of priorities is astonishing, where were they when other teams have been requesting games to be called off? Then again they were the same lot calling for the league to be null and void when we were smashing it and have been silent ever since.

I'm kind of hoping Liverpool put out a rag tag bunch of youth players and still beat Arsenal.

"Confirmation now that 1st leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final has been postponed; EFL have granted Liverpool’s request but Liverpool have now forfeited home advantage for second leg. First game at Anfield on Jan 13, return at The Emirates on Jan 20 "

All when Salah and Mane are still away, the only real reason Arsenal fans were saying Liverpool wanted it postponed.

Klopp says a lot of things to the media, he is very good at playing them to his own advantage and all behind a big smile. He is a great manager, no denying it but he is also very devious in the way he portrays himself to the press which gets him away with an awful lot that others would n't.
