NATO will be gaining a lot of information on Russian tactics and how they use their equipment. Might be useful in the years ahead.

Maybe they don't want to destroy key national infrastructure that they will then have to rebuild following the inevitable loss of a war with Russia, the Ukraine cannot win so needlessly destroying their own country is a waste of time this will be over quickly and there will be only one victor.

Bridges to the east to Russia should be the last concern rebuilding.

If they get taken over by Russians the Russians would have to rebuild then anyway...

The lack of preparation here is really poor.

Destroying a Bridge that can be rebuilt vs letting Russin armour pour in unopposed - you can't be serious here?

It's not clear that this will be over quickly yet - depends how much territory Russia tries to take, these bridges from Crimea are likely in areas Russia seeks to control/hold onto.

Though even in the case of say that runway north of Kiyv, it's kind of a no-brainer to destroy it once Russia siezed it.

I'm wondering if the Ukrainian plan was to let the Russians cross the border, then make life difficult. The Russians have an obvious superiority in armour, artillery, aircraft etc, so trying to fight them where those overwhelming forces can be brought into play isn't a good plan (to say the least). If the Ukrainians have the appetite, you drag the invader into the cities and might then fight street-by-street, house-by-house. Heavy armour is of very limited use and air strikes / artillery just makes a mess of everything giving defenders more places to hide.

Only if you think you can win the war otherwise you are destroying the national infrastructure that your people rely on in a futile attempt to slow down one of the largest military forces on the planet which same said people will then land up paying to rebuild. The Russian military will over power as much of the Ukraine as they want in relatively short order and anyone who think otherwise is being naïve.

So Germany and the EU are going to be the reason the sanctions are far weaker than they should be, by the sound of it. Shameful.
Difficult when Russia control the lights and the heating in Germany, really harsh sanctions on Russia are going to prove difficult to sustain for most of Europe if Russia is willing to play games with energy supplies.

Recce platoon of a Russian brigade captured:
I guess while Russian armour was able to roll through the border they got a bit of grief further in country...
Please apply a grain of critical thinking.
Why and how would any russian unit with a working radio surrender when they have total control of the skies?

Absolutely disgraceful by the Germans a d the hand tied EU but what do you expect, it has always been Germany 1st everyone else behind. The UK response has also been diabolical as well.
