On the Germany thing - easy for Boris to spout things, knowing they're unlikely to happen yet, when the consequences for Britain would be relatively small. Germany getting cut off from Russian gas could pretty much halt their economy. Severe power shortages, lack of heating in the winter would be bad, very very bad. They don't get nice mild winters like we do here.

Germany's own fault really.

That was an obvious move it could have been used as a weapon the threaten the East and now it could be used to threaten the West, desperate people do terrible things.
How can it be a weapon, though? Unless they can control the direction of the wind, how can they weaponize Chernobyl? It could harm Russia just as much as it could us. If it gets into the environment, it also hurts Belarus and Ukraine. Don't think the Russians will do anything with it personally.

Not if Russia bans its airspace to anyone in NATO.

Granted the loss of money would not be great for them.
It’s not hard to avoid the Russian airspace. You only really need to cross it going to Asia and you can fly down to the Middle East and across without much time added.

Well did I ever call this wrong! :(

I had no doubt Putin would go for the Ukraine "eventually" but I suspected it would be another 1-2 more "dry runs" before it happened, to really dull our responses down after a few more long, slowly drawn out exercises but Putin must have seen the West's fairly lack-luster response over the past few months of his build-up as effectively worthless so decided to go for it.

His speech, if you read/watch it, was exactly what I thought it would be however, full of "The West forced us to do this", ""Ukraine is run by Nazis so this is to prevent the genocide of millions" etc etc, all stuff which plays heavily into the post WW2 Russian psyche but is obviously utter rubbish to the rest of the world.

It'll be interesting, in a pretty horrible way, to see how the "modern" Russian military is used during this Op, and I'd guess that virtually every NATO surveillance aircraft will be up as much as possible gathering as much intel on the Russian capabilities as possible.

Nobody is doing anything, nobody cares. Quickest "war" in history.
No one in the west wants to go down as the leader who instigated the first tactical nuclear strike in retaliation for committing forces or military aid to Ukraine.
The financial sanctions will hurt a bit, but Putin obviously figured these ahead of time and has decided he can ride it out.
I bet we don't even see the likes of Russian developed games (such as Snowrunner) being taken down from Steam and there are still plenty of Russian teams and players about in some of the PvP tablet games I frequent.
