Britain needs to increase Defense spending.

We need more troops and planes and a far better air defense network.

For to long we have relied on the US but they are no longer interested in Europe and consider China the greater threat.

In Britain and Europe we have fooled ourselves into thinking that just because there is peace it will always be so.

The period of peace, since 1945, has been the exception, not the rule, for period's of peace in Europe.

Yeah that strip of land is imperative, if Russian get air superiority around the coast and have helicopters patrolling the borders of Poland, Slovakia, and Romania, then I fear the ability to get supplies in will be difficult and Ukraine would choke. I'm not including Hungary in that list as I don't think Orban is a trustworthy NATO ally.

Given that Putin has said any interference will face consequences. How long until he starts deeming USA's intelligence, their weapons supplies etc, to be tantamount to interference?

If there was ever a time i wished I had the knowledge and nous to join them it is now. Good on them.

Query though: SWIFT, a lot of rumblings about about the reason it isn't taken down for Russia is because of German and Italian reliance on Russian gas. If that is the only reason why, and the effect of doing so on Germany and Italy is acceptable, why not threaten to take down SWIFT for everyone unless and until the EU (or whoever it is that can) takes it down for Russia?

I assume theres some sort of global economic collapse or something which they're relying on as reason not to. But if so, it'd be good to know the reasoning. But in the absence of the same, a threat to do so could be enough to strong arm those countries to accepting the immediate cut, no?

The risks of Russia being successful are too high. They should be doing everything to stop Russia if they aren’t going to be putting boots on the ground.

I wondered if we'd see the use of deep fake video technology as part of the publicity war.

Putin wanted it to be one sided - sending a mild case of over-trooping, then only using the expendables into the area first. Then letting the experienced squads pick the targets for most effect - specifically for the government and their families. Putin would then have this odd scenario, with random pockets of resistance pre-armed littered across the country.

It does feel that, with the economic aspects, that this has been planned and prepped for a long time.

I wasn't questioning that strikes were ongoing - only aware that a lot of hysteria was going on and reposting of older footage while people on Twitter who were in some of those locations at the time were saying it was quiet.

There were multiple sources confirming a full invasion was taking place, even the US President had announced it.
