It is simply naïve and ignorant to say the entire Ukrainian population is against Russia. While ~17% of the population are ethic Russian, with more situated towards the east, the population of many major cities tends to be ~50%+ ethnic Russian.

Kyiv, a city with a population of ~3M, is ~54% ethnic Russian and while many will not support Putin - after all he is putting them all in danger and disrupting their steady way of life, some will ultimately prefer to be more in Russians orbit than Europe and the U.S.
What is ethnic Russian? The Rus tribes? They are ethnic slavs Ukranian and Russian both. Russian is not an ethnicity it is a nationality.

I want to believe the Ukraine is holding this out and hopefully see it through.

RIP to all loss of life to the ones forced to fight this war. I do definitely believe that not all Russia people are bad.

Hopefully a ending in all this will see Russia standalone from the rest of the world and while Mr evil Putin is in charge the country will not get anything from the rest of the world.

After Putin time is over God knows what is in store for Russia long term.

The people of Russia have been shown to be weak, shills, and apathetic.

They could have voted down Putin years ago but they chose not to.

They could protest in their millions. But they choose not to.

Russia could flatten Ukraine if they were brutal enough (massive aerial bombing and artillery). I'm glad this hasn't happened yet.

flatten the people , the ethnic russian ones? Big mistake

To put things into perspective, imagine England invading Scotland. And say folks from here occupy a village in scotland and scots come at you and talk you like ****. How would you feel occupying and killing folks who speak the same language and been probably together on a holiday . This is what happens in Ukraine now. These people have been one country from like forever till 1991.

I disagree with your sentiment and assessment. Russia has quite a specific culture. Ukraine has a quite dissimilar culture. Many of the ethnic Russians that live in Ukraine do so for the express purpose of living in a far more relaxed and less hardline culture and would not want their adopted country to become more like Russia.

They need to hold out long enough for Russia generals to turn on the fruitloop

There will still be a lot of pro Russian in the Ukranian population.

Not a majority, by a long way, but to say the entire population is against Russia is plain wrong.

See how pro russian they are when they lose homes, livelihood and family to Russia aggression.

That’s exactly how it should be, take your Russian love elsewhere

My wife, while ordering our weekly supermarket delivery online said, “With what’s going on in Ukraine Jean, should I forget your litre of Russian Standard vodka and order a litre of Grey Goose? It’s only another £4.75.”
I said, “Whoa! hold the phone kid, let’s wait until the T-14s are past Warszawa on their way to Berlin before we do anything hasty.”

Russia could flatten Ukraine if they decided to be absolutely brutal (massive aerial bombing and artillery). I'm glad this hasn't happened yet.

I maybe wrong but isn't Ukraine resource rich therefore destroying the country by blanketing the land with munitions would mean destroying a lot of usefuel infrastructure for extracting said resources.

That genuinely made me laugh

This is like the slow reaction to Covid... finally it sinks in for world leaders and they pull their thumbs out when acting earlier would have been far more effective, frustrating to see it happen all over again.. maybe in the near future they'll ramp up sanctions/agree on SWIFT etc.. Good to see the UK pushing for this though:
Correct on all accounts. It's not like we don't have fairly recent history to look back on to see how Russia operates.

Putin is a psychopath (he has killed in cold blood) though. He would if he could, if it meant winning the war. But, he's facing a lot of internal resistance, from senior oligarchs and his own people.

Russia are objectively the bad guys/side in this.

They have indiscriminately invaded and attacked another country for zero reason beyond their own absurd paranoia.
I agree 100% with what you say.

However what you say also applies equally to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and I'm ashamed to admit I supported that at the time, so while Russia are undoubtedly in the wrong it is quite easy to see how their people/military/etc can be led along by one corrupt/crazy/stupid/etc leader :(
