Yes, those people should be evacuated, but immigrant men of fighting age who have settled in Ukraine and taken advantage of what Ukraine had to offer them, should stay and fight for it.

It says British nationals were prevented from leaving.
"We showed our passports and they said, 'No, it doesn’t matter your nationality, we’re not letting any men through.'

Is Putin using this book on the future of Russian geopolitics as a basis for his plans? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

Look under 'Content', he has succeeded in cutting the UK off from Europe and using Russia's natural resources to bully other countries (gas, oil, etc). The book also advises going after Ukraine (echoing Putin's language about it having no distinct identity or right to exist) which he's doing right now and going after Finland (they are right to be worried after those threats).

That book has been around for years, and it's very good. The only thing is it didn't highlight is the social changes and impact of social media.

Zelenskyy’s latest tweet seems to suggest Turkey are going to block Russian warships accessing the Black Sea.

That would be a very interesting development. The Russians love that trade route and would like to even control it.

Turkey said they can't block ships returning home though back to russia

Ah, this is more realistic.

If EU nations follow Estonia and ban all Russian planes form their airspace. That leave only a tiny corridor through the gulf of Finland for Russia to access Kaliningrad from the air. That certainly won't please them.
Honestly if our leaders had any balls they would have threatened an invasion of Kaliningrad as a potential retaliatory measure to an invasion of Ukraine, not just politely asked him not to do it.

That wasn't the scenario you were criticising them for though.

If you had been living in Ukraine as a British citizen for the last few years would you stay and fight with them or escape using your British passport?
I would escape, but if I was prevented from leaving, I would fight. Plus, I’m unlikely to be in Ukraine through an asylum claim.

It says British nationals were prevented from leaving.
So hopefully the men in the picture who aren’t students, youngsters, disabled etc should were stopped from leaving and made to fight.

They did mention doing so before this started, would be excellent to see now, I guess people can see that this isn't going to be a cakewalk for Putin anymore so are happier to act against him.

I don't think anyone wants to be bombed, most Iraqis weren't bombed though! Most Iraqis certainly did want Saddam removed though, whether your naivety allows you to believe such a thing or not.

Surely the method in which an objective is achieved should have a bearing on wheather it is worth going ahead with it.

It's like someone asking you if you would like a £20 note handed to you, you say yes and then they cut one of your ears off before doing so.

Well I'm not sure asking Saddam to leave nicely would have worked. But you're in denial if you don't think most Iraqis were happy that he was removed but this is rather irrelevant to this thread.

If i was on holiday in Spain for a couple of weeks with my wife, i certainly wouldnt be happy if we were handed rifles and put on the front line and told to defend the country as i have enjoyed their beaches and food for a week or so.

Conventions signed by Turkey mean it cannot block access to the Bosporus unless it's at war.

Having said that conventions signed by Russia mean it cannot invade Ukrainian territory, so at this point I doubt many in the international community would argue if Turkey just did it anyway :P

That’s silly, they are not on holiday

Turkey has apparently gone ahead with the ban now, tad late but AFAIK they have the right to do this during conflict, perhaps couldn't have legally done so earlier:

Well this is a surprise. I thought Erdogan would find a way to support him! NATO is too strong, I suppose.

We dont know why they are there, just that they are British nationals and you did not exclude holdiay makers from your list.
The ones in the picture are unlikely to be BN’s. My guess, and it’s just a guess, that a lot of them will have claimed asylum in Ukraine.

Regardless of the people in the picture, it’s just a view I have that if a country offers you asylum and helps you to live a better and more prosperous life, it’s not on to then just abandon them in their hour of need and trot on to the next country that will take you in.
