Just seen this.

Now I could very well be wrong here, but I know a bit about tanks, and I believe that is either a T-72B or the export T-72S variant, this is important for three reasons:

  1. Because this is a tank from the 1980s that does not look to have been retrofitted with any improvements (that 35 year old ERA design has no chance versus modern anti-tank weapons).
  2. Because this tank is inferior to every tank Ukraine has in service.
  3. Because Russia knew point 1 and 2 but sent it anyway.

I'm aghast at how badly Russia is conducting this invasion, don't get me wrong I'm not unhappy they're doing badly I'm just surprised by it. It's like they sent their junk so they didn't have to risk losing the good stuff and it turns out the junk isn't good enough.
That dosnt look "hit", looks to me like its broken down and just been push off the road to allow the rest of the column to move on unimpeded. There appears to be no visible marks from anti tank weapons, and they tend to really **** armour.

They do also have the more modern equipment in country, there have been a few videos showing the T72b3's and T80's, there are also photos of them with turrets popped off etc so Modern equipment means **** all when it comes to modern anti tank weapons.

SO, southern english are the same ethnicity with northern germans?

Does this from my heritage help?

English: English DNA is what is known as admixed ethnicity: an ethnicity created by interbreeding between 2 or more ethnicities. In the case of English ethnicity, the admixture is of Anglo-Saxon/Scandinavian and Celtic (Irish) DNA. 20%–40% of English DNA also has Germanic origins, well documented in the Anglo-Saxon invasion of England (5–8 C.E.). Those tribes originate mostly in today’s Denmark, where the North and West European Germanic tribes originated as well. Therefore, the degree of similarity between English and modern Germans is high due to their common origin.

There seems to be a lot if 'celebration' on the internet as to how bad the Russians have been / how good the Ukraine defence is so far, even talk of them potentially winning! but I'm really worried that Russia is just going to kick it up a notch.

Putin has two choices.

Withdraw or go in even harder.

I wouldn't like to say which he will do.

Nobody considering that Russia is sending some of their dross first to chew through what were Ukraine's limited AT and AA weaponry/ammo? Lower the threat to their better gear and troops.
Of course this all depends on Ukraine's supply lines failing to keep up, which no doubt would have been a more likely outcome if Russia's first steps had been more successful.

All those long vulnerable convoys.....the Ukraine airforce is still operational if only we could give them a half a dozen cluster bombs, f'up those ******** real good.

The invading force needs to worry about its supplies and resupply lines.

I think that view is looking extremely far fetched, at this point.

Russia are losing face on a spectacular scale.

I remember a few on here saying it be all over before Sunday when it first started

Are you guys still thinking this ?
A few also said Russia would never attack and it's clearly just a training excercise. I think their opinions can be ignored!
All these lives lost for nothing, what a bloody shame. :(
this is one of the main takeaways from this. War is always bad but often at least it feels like there is a goal or aim to try to end up somewhere better, getting rid of an evil regime etc. This whole thing is just a pointless waste of life.

I support Ukraine in this conflict, but fighting war criminals by committing war crimes is not the right path.

Having said that, Ukraine like Russia never signed the convention banning cluster munitions so it would only be a moral violation not a legal one.

Looks to me from all the video's seen so far that Russia really hasn't thrown everything behind this invasion, & is keeping all the best, most advanced equipment, IFVs, Artillery, & presumably the best soldiers & special forces well back.
You would expect that to be the case but who knows. The information seems to flip flop all the time. One minute Russia is the most dangerous nation on the Earth, then they are not, one minute Putin is going senile, then he’s a cold calculated military don, one minute Russia are doing so well Ukraine should have surrendered already the next Ukrainian army is the beating the brakes off them.

Hard to know what is happening at the minute really. Lots of misinformation from all sides it seems.

I think Russia has the greatest logistical/supply issue. They've over extended looking for a quick win whilst the Ukrainian force have increasing support from neighbouring EU states including weapons.

I know this probally sounds thick, but how will all these countries get all these fresh supplies and equipment in without being attacked by Russian forces?

I can think of a few ways.

If the vehicles are overseas forces doing the deliveries, Russia might let them through to avoid bringing them into the conflict, otherwise its just going around the Russians, they wont have control of every way in the country.

You would have thought the US/NATO surveillance/intelligence would have told Ukraine if that was the case

They're not, they've had their elite VDV paratroopers conduct airborne operations which haven't exactly gone well (see the helicopter raid north of Kyiv, the initial group of airborne forces getting destroyed there and then subsequent attempts at another airfield in the south and losses of two transport aircraft), they've had special forces/saboteurs captured in multiple locations. They've sent some of their best troops in from day 1.

They do, but that wasn't necessarily what they planned on. I mean we're literally seeing some of the oldest serviceable units in the Russian forces. We're not seeing any of their new stuff that we know they have. Why?
