Suddenly poor white males are relevant to the government, maybe that's why a large part of the population is kept in poverty so people have an incentive to joint he army.

makes sense in america too, always seems to be the poor people joining up for healthcare etc
 
According to the BBC, the Chechnya leader said he is sending troops to help Russia.

The leader of Russia's Chechnya region says he has deployed his fighters to Ukraine to join battle with Russian troops.

In a video posted online, Ramzan Kadyrov said Chechen forces had so far successfully captured a Ukrainian military facility without suffering any casualties.

The leader of the southern Russian republic is a key ally of the Russian president.

Justifying the invasion, he says Putin's decision to attack Ukraine will prevent Moscow's enemies from using the country to launch an attack on Russia.

Chechen fighters loyal to Kadyrov have a notorious reputation and stand accused of human rights abuses.

Shocking behaviour from Russia. Feels like they have hugely underestimated the Ukrainian defence.

I wish the West could do more but I understand that would give Russia a free pass at escalation, potentially nuclear, which is everyone’s fear.

The resolve been shown from the Ukrainian people & leaders is inspirational.

Does make me wonder what the UK would be like if we ever got into a position of arming civilians, to repel an invasion.

Or they might just quietly wait it out,as everyone is concentrating on Russia and not them.

But OTH,its not good for business if a big war in Europe happens either.

By the time you get to arming civilians you are ******. Got to remember it is only a couple of days started and the Ukrainian have already asked for a ceasefire.

The minimum for negotiation should be :
Russia removes it's forces back across the border.
It de-annexes Crimea and the Eastern provinces.
Sanctions stay in place.

Then Putin resigns in disgrace and gets tried as a war criminal.

Scotland were due to play Ukraine in a qualifier on March 24th, it may have already been called off.
I’ve already laid £100 on France at 6/1 to win the Cup, allez les Bleus!

It's probably dawning on China that Russia is pathetic and weak.

Maybe it's a good time for them to re-evaluate as they come to the realisation that they will be as economically irrelevant as Russia if they don't be friends and get on with the rest of the world.

I guess we will see how much they keep annoying Taiwan and if they still keep playing around with man-made islands in the ocean

China depends on the world as much as we depend on them and they know it, they are desperate to get their own semiconductor industry that can compete with Intel and AMD but they aren't allowed to purchase EUV machines from AMSL.


Chinese banks already seem terrified of sanctions if they do business with Russia according to twitter reports

Nothing desperate about arming civilians. Asymmetric warfare is proving very effective so far. Trying to occupy a country where the population is armed and angry is an impossible task and will tie up Russia for years.

How can you occupy a city when you could get hit by an AT missile or molotov the second you go out on the street?
 
When/if we start seeing lines of surrendered Russian soldiers that's when we know their morale is broken and they're running low on supplies, I don't think that will happen yet though.
