We just need facts not what people think is happening, or how Putin thinks, or how everyone around him is yes men, or who he’s looking to invade next, or how every leader in the west is week but now they are playing the game on boss levels of military strategy.

Or how Russia definitely won't invade and it's all bluster?

No I’m not on about the assumption of how or what Putin thinks. I’m on about what has been said in this forum. A huge amount is completely contradictory.

One minute they are planning world domination the next minute they would struggle to take over Tesco’s. One minute we are on the verge of WW3 because Putin and Russia are so dangerous the next minute Ukrainian civilians are repelling them with Molotov’s and AK47’s.

It’s all over the place in here.

Russia hasn't thrown their best at this, it is mostly a mix of special forces and inexperienced/conscript/mercenary forces - the whole composition has been drawn up with mostly equipment they can afford to lose and/or can use without committing.

No but we have many of the same people posting things on completely the different ends of the spectrum.

I get people have been emotional but it borders on nonsensical.

It’s hard to keep tabs.

If you just want facts then stick to the official updates put out on the various feeds.

...and if it's hard to keep tabs, maybe take a break from the thread? Nobody is forcing you to sit there refreshing it, getting your knickers in a twist that posts from different users may be contradictory.

If you've got issues with certain posters contradicting themselves then perhaps quote them instead of making broad statements.

It certainly seems like Putin is getting fed up of this resistance now and is looking for an excuse to bring out the heavier weaponry.

We could end up with indiscriminate shelling of all parts of Kyiv soon, possibly including thermobaric weapons.

Is there a point at which the West has to step in? It could be a massacre if Putin loses his mind...

Well you shouldn't be getting your news from here tbh...

The minimum for negotiation should be :
Russia removes it's forces back across the border.
It de-annexes Crimea and the Eastern provinces.
Sanctions stay in place.

Then Putin resigns in disgrace and gets tried as a war criminal.

That seems like a bit of a reach right now, not impossible (Putin being overthrown would be nice) I doubt they're going to give Crimea back. Withdrawing to the lines as they were pre-invasion might be more plausible, Russia will probably try to push for a land bridge to Crimea though, I guess how much leverage each side has will depend on progress over the next few days and the extent of sanctions + international and domestic pressure on Russia.

They're going to try and push into Kyiv with the use of more artillery + armour now, it's mostly been more lightly armed airborne units so far.

Probably the biggest indication of what's really going on on the ground is the willingness of other nations to now give the Ukranians weaponary. With recent memories of western weaponary falling into the wrong hands when the Afghan army evaporated there was likely some reticence but that will now have been dispelled to a certain degree.

It’s hard to keep tabs.

It's a forum of random individuals, not a newsgroup run by a media organisation. If you want facts I suggest you don't look here and instead go directly to the source for most of the info (mainly twitter/instagram etc) or look at a press website instead.

Yeah I got it wrong quite obviously. I am as human as any other posting in this thread.
Although I’ve also been accused of being a Russian Bot, Russian, A traitor all sorts of funny things but I got over it pretty quickly ;).

Ok that’s fair enough but can we not at least be slightly sensible?

What's the point of going in hand measured?

You do realise this is a discussion forum right, the reason people have been discussing all the things you mentioned is because that's the point of the thread
