Russian citizens have caught wind of the SWIFT ban and have started a bank run taking their money out as cash. It won't make things any different doing this though as either way their economy is likely about to collapse pretty soon regardless and Rubles be worth nothing.

There won't be any WWIII as people have noted, the former president of Ukraine (who is also on the frontline) said in a UK news interview "absolutely not" when asked about a potential for WW3. Other nations are giving Ukraine aids to defend themselves, and that is what they are doing pretty effectively it seems.

In one week Russians will not have bananas in the supermarket “They refuse not just to bring some specific cargo to Russia, but even just to make visits, - he continues. - It started on Thursday, February 24, and on Friday it already fell, my whole computer is full of cancelations: cancelled, cancelled, cancelled. On what was planned and what is ongoing, what is already on the water - all transportation is stopped. Up to bananas. Now I was talking to a colleague, he says, 40 containers of bananas from Colombia and the same number from about Bolivia - refusal. That is, they refused to transport the cargo. These bananas won't get to Russia. If this goes like this, there will soon be no even bananas in Russia.” https://novayagazeta.ru/articles/2022/02/27/eto-budet-venesuela-s-iadernymi-raketami

No bananas!

I said at the time how utterly idiotic it was for Germany to abandon nuclear because of the Fukushima meltdown that injured no one, I'd be laughing at them now if the situation wasn't so serious.
yea it seems nuclear power prevents the enemy from bombing it... why build anything else then

probably be different if the country isn't on your doorstep though

Bombing, what on earth are you talking about, they are dependent on Russian gas because they have shut down their nuclear plants.

Putin isn't sending his best, which suggests he's happy to wage a war of attrition. He has vast reserves, he can keep sending troops and armour for a lot longer than Ukraine can replace hers.

Unfortunately the Russian population only has stomach for a certain amount of attrition..

That video was post here twice days ago.

Yeah I'm not reading the 100 pages per day thread I'm getting a flavour for the current pages.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Julia Ioffe 'interview' (3x 4 mins pieces)
* Putin likes to set the agender, he didn't actually like the fact Trump was getting all the headlines when he was in power :)
* He's won all his previous wars he started since 1999 and feels emboldened by the wins
* He will complete his goals even if that means Russian people will be worse off - he won't feel that directly and neither will his inner circle. The average Russian may be worse off etc
* He's removed all opposition, leaders and people right down to someone liking the wrong video on facebook

So Putin says western sanctions are illegitimate.. All this because Putin decided to invade a country. Putin wants to play Nuclear rattling and gamble the Russian population from the safety of his bunker.

I suspect the Military will step up but not do anything.

I'm assuming that China really wants to be sat next to Russia's fallout zone..

If NATO aren’t going to get involved if Belarus join then perhaps Moldova could. The world would thank them for their help.
