The only negotiation is how Russia is going to leave, its pathetic tbh, don't let fud over play the Russians hand, they are well and truly stuffed and have no way out. Nukes will not happen, the only reason that convoy isn't toast is to give them a chance to turn around.

Imo it's all over at this stage just needs the Russians to decide what they would prefer.
Judging by the comments from the president this morning it doesn't look like these talks will lead to much. He's already said he won't accept anything less then a withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian lands which isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Nuclear threat was pure posturing, negotiations are underway and the rouble hasn't fallen that drastically.

Or am I missing something?

I'm not sure any of that suggests the situation is over and there's nothing more to worry about.

Your initial post seemed to suggest something had been agreed.

For now, that could change very soon

The only reason Ukraine have done so well is because they are entrenched in the city amongst the civilian population, Putin so far has behaved himself and not bombarded the city. If the Ukrainian forces come out of their defensive positions out in the open to stop any Russian forces from entering Ukraine they lose that massive advantage.
What the Ukrainians are doing is the best thing they can do given the current situation.
I'm glad someone knows what's going on, all I here is soundbites trying to be scary, then look at live webcams, very briefly admittedly, then recent news footage and the Russians have achieved nothing. Some of the video footage is laughable.
Now all this foreign support is ramping up to the next level, the sanctions are something never seen before. I believe if the Russians start anything like carpet bombs or suchlike the west will ramp up another notch, those bombers will not be allowed.

I think he has his playbook and is continuing down the plan. I think the issue is the delays may cause people that implement those plans to have doubts and then the party leadership will have doubts internally. Final step would be that they have a meeting suggesting that Putin has done enough for mother russia, that they will give him medals and that mother russia will now look after him in his retirement.

Only thing is I suspect that Putin isn't a retiring type. His reports don't seem to be a retiring type either - dying on the job or being placed into retirement to make way for someone that will.

I'd love to know how it Works in Russia. Is there any possible way a sort. Of "council" could effectively say "enough of this".
People have families. A lot. Of his circle are wealthy. I can't see many of these actually supporting this.

But I agree I don't see him stepping down willingly. He does seem a "die on the job" type

He changed their constitution so that he no longer has to give up power. There is no limits to his terms, and there are no opposition in elections as he put them in jail or assasinates them.

This is not entirely correct. There are two terms limits in Russian constitution. If I recall correctly, the two terms clause was worded poorly, which allowed a candidate to be elected president non-consequtively (ie serve two times, elect another president and serve two times again). So Putin served twice, then let Medvedev serve once and now serving his 4th term. Recently Russia amended their constitution to fix this poor wording so that nobody can serve more than two times as the president of Russia. However, during this amendment it was argued that it resets Putin's meter giving him an option to serve two more times.

So to sum it up, from now on russian president can serve only two times. However Putin can serve two more times for a total of 6 now but according to the Russian constitution he cannot serve more after that.

Oh sorry, I cant call someone out for talking BS because theyre a journalist?

I will however watch that video when I get home.
Ah that’s why I’m confused you haven’t watched the video.

Well he’s reported on dozens of conflicts so he has real world experience and has seen plenty of conflict first hand. So yeah he knows what he’s talking about.

Unlike you and I :D.
