Ukraine would have to be prepared to give the 2 contested regions to the Russians, but even if Ukraine accepted that - surely Russia will want a lot more?

The issue here is that Putin is going to be humiliated whatever happens. So why not bring out the really heavy ordnance and just blow up lots of things/people? The footage from Kharkiv is not pleasant.

It almost feels like even if Ukraine did give up the Donestsk and Kharkiv Oblasts to Russia that all we would be doing is creating the new frontline in "Cold War 2" with the location being East and West Ukraine instead of Germany this time around - now if its a choice between that and total destruction for the Ukrainians then maybe that's a choice they make - surely Putin realises that aside from those two areas he's never going to get anything but resistance from the ethnic Ukrainian population?

yep, tensions stupidly high as it is. Zero excuse for having something you foolishly say used to raise them further. Even if the other side using it as an excuse, don’t be giving it to them on a plate.

No let’s be honest about it it’s not us they fear it’s the US. We are a tiny little country where as the US dwarfs us not only in size but also military spending. $777 billion compared to £44.6 billion for us.

Maybe Putin wants to be alongside the Nazis in the list of wanted War Criminals.
 
is this the first time a war between the west and russia has been fought by proxy?

rest of europe fighting against russia without having to put boots on the ground just give all the equipment to ukraine
