We will just tell Putin that the west are going to join Russia in to demilitarise and denazify Ukraine and the west will hold down the fort, his can go home as heroes.

Doubt he will buy that though!

And above is a perfect example of how all the "safe spaces, everyone must love everyone else" twaddle that's castrated two generations has panned out. When our enemies or bullies read stuff like this they must laugh out loud. Embarrassing Jimlad, embarrassing...

I mean, how does anyone reply to the pure stupidity of a post like that without it sounding like a personal attack on them? Just ignore it I guess.

Anyway, keeping channels of dialog to the leader of a nuclear power open is rather vital right now. imo it’s Putin looking the duplicitous weasel he is more than anything else.

That isn't what i said is it. It isn't the UK's or Russia's choice whether Ukraine disarms or not.

This is about standing up to a dictator invading another country for expansionist/nationalistic regions. We know how that ends up if appeased.

I saw what you replied to and my response was to that. Russias demands will be similar to what he had been asking for originally, that Ukraine not join NATO and now he will probably want a bit of land too since he is there.
Yes it's a crap situation and no this isn't fair but Ukraine isn't the only place in the world where innocents are getting killed and at least here it can be stopped without more deaths.

Well at the moment, that doesnt seem to be a solution to him. He wants complete demilitarisation of Ukraine and for them to remain "neutral". Not going to happen, and why should it?

I do agree that perhaps letting Russia have Crimea and that it might be a reasonable compromise to end the war. What Putin actually wants is clearly unreasonable, so it shows he has no interest in a peaceful solution.

Good news about the Snake island Ukraine soldiers though. Lets hope the Russians treat them with some respect because if not, they will swing their massive balls and knock the Russians out.

This was confirmed at least a day ago on the Telegram channels, with photos and videos, and showing them being treated in a respectable manner.

Normal media channels are being really slow in relaying events. The shellings this morning of Kharkiv, for example, were being relayed at least an hour before they started being even hinted at, despite there being multiple verified videos, of which the normal media channels used. Likewise, Ukraine are taking huge military losses, very few of which are actually being shown. You should be able to look up the groups on Telegram fairly easily - two of the largest groups I joined have 300,000 and 420,000 members in. Definitely gives you a bigger insight as to what's actually going on.

Agree.
He has to not feel Humiliated. I'd happily make a compromise to avoid nuclear war.

The EU will sort it out, or the UN, have faith.... <LOL> I like the way you capitalise humiliated, but I think I'd feel humiliated posting such defeatist guff.

I'm surprised no one in the Labour party has yet said they have a piece of paper.

Liz Truss wants the British people to expect the sacrifices they have to make because the Ukraine people don't have choice! In this long war, this speech sounds like WWII

The Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association just issued a statement regarding the racist coverage of Ukraine that saw dehumanizing, superior, and insulting comparisons to the Middle East.
Did anyone see this?

No I'd not seen that. Sounds like they're annoyed that the UN/EU/NATO jumped to help Ukraine and not other areas in the world from Russian/China/US.

Perhaps this experience will change the world. One hopes in a good way.

Putin only respects strength and military deterrence. That's the type of idiot we are dealing with I think. The West have treated him with kid gloves and he still did this and other crimes, yet he threatens us belligerently so it seems like it didn't work.

He's using violence and threats of violence to get what he wants and it seems to be working on you.

History is littered with people who thought they could appease violent aggressors.

Wasn't it Neville Chamberlain who declared "Peace in our time"? Why do people still fall for this crap?

Us and the Americans always see the people we don't like as the violent aggressors, while it may be true of Putin a look at our and Americas history doesn't show us in the best light.

Yes I'd handle him careful. He's unstable and dangerous. And we do not know to what degree this is the case.
