I know, but we are democracies at least. For us it would be much worse if the boot were on the other foot. Free societies would not exist.

Most people are more concerned about the present and immediate future than the distant past, for very good reasons.

History - of the UK is written, including gassing Kurds etc. Nobody is denying. The UK held territory across the globe but you don't see the modern government running around nuking the place for re-capturing Kartum or Brittany (going back back).

That's nonsense though, it's a myth that is often repeated online, the other part that people miss out is that Churchill was advocating for tear gas... as in the same stuff riot police in plenty of modern democracies are happy to use on their own citizens.

To everyone who thinks 'kicking Putin's ass' is the correct solution.

Surely you must be aware that any attack on Russia or Russian forces only means escalation from Putin. If he escalates then everyone else has to. No one will back down and that's not going to end well when nukes are on the table and a madman is at the helm.

Well, with Putin's current ridiculous demands, the alternative is just to let him take Ukraine.

The alternative is to bend over, watch for him to take over Ukraine, commit genocide, then what? watch him move onto Finland...we'll let that go too, then what's next? Wait for him to die of old age?

He probably wants his border goes all the way to middle of Berlin after WW2, perhaps we should just hand over Poland and half of Germany too.

I'm just curious, so the guys wanting to take this to the next level in regards to nuking or putting our forces against Russias, how many of you were the same people a couple of days ago believing that Russia was getting its arse kicked, the war was pretty much over and Russia was about to leave with its tail between its legs ?

I don't think anyone is advocating for putting our forces against Russia right now are they?

I also don't think anyone thought Russia was going to imminently run away with its tail between its legs either.

No, it's not. Even if he 'takes' Ukraine, it wont be his for long. He's quickly losing the backing of his military, the population of his country and his beloved oligarchs. Not to mention the sanctions and lasting economic effects imposed on Russia are going to be devastating.

If aggression is really the answer you want to accept, then you're condemning millions of innocent lives to die.
