Like most countries they probably dont have microchip fab plants, if they do there are tiny and domestic only

It’s not 1942-44 with an uncountable amount of low tech T34s rolling out of factory’s making up the numbers, modern tanks and aircraft required very technical components and electronics that they will not be able to produce themselves and will not be able to to import, this will cripple them for decades. Look at the equipment they are using now it old and outdated and being shown up by western weaponry.

Surely NATO could put pilots in planes, gifted planes, and defend Ukraine without the Ruskies knowing who is piloting them?

Does Ukraine ever get there country back certainly a lot of questions after this can Russia survive all these sanctions, are Russia going to fund Ukraine to repair all the damage done.

That's not the question here. You push a country so far with sanctions it is going to end in tears for everyone. Propaganda will turn the Russian populace against the west. These sanctions do nothing to hurt Putin and his cronies. All these sanctions are doing is hurting the common man on the street.

There are really only two/three outcomes to this.

-Putin gets what he wants and takes over Ukraine. Is the fall of Ukraine worth world war 3? That is the sad reality.

-Putin doesn't get what he wants and ends up nuking everyone.

-Putin gets dispatched internally.

I honestly cannot see a way that this ends in the correct way without Putin being killed or taken out of office.

Saw the video of the EU clapping Zelensky, just like the NHS got claps for Covid it seems all the EU will give Ukraine is claps (yes I know "some" military stuff is getting sent to Ukraine).... those fighters could have been huge for Ukraine

NATO is a defensive force. It's tragic but Ukraine are not part of NATO. If they were this would never have happened.

Yeah thats all he has ever been, he's long had a passion for the history of Eastern European countries and in particular the Soviet/USSR timeperiod. Anybody thinking Russia was weak because it couldn't take Kyiv in 5 or so days, might sadly get proven wrong soon. Media blackout seems likely, which will put the world into a guessing frenzy and going by the retorts of 'omg nukes' on here, I fear that most will start thinking the worst - and typical west media will spin up a frenzy with little to no facts to back anything.

I wonder whether if we decide not to get involved, and we sit and watch Ukraine eventually get razed, thousands of civilians killed, etc, etc - what does that say about the west, what does it say about us?

It's one thing to tremble at the thought of Russias nuclear arsenal, but I think we need to get real - it could end up being a very horrible mistake to just sit behind sanctions and watch this unfold and not do anything.

Kiev Siren's are going off such a scary sound buggar !!!

remember when I was growing up in Lithuania, they'd run those through tests every few weeks. Don't know what it was about the sound but it would chill you to the bone. Everyone, even kids would go quiet for that 1 minute or so they were being tested.

my thinking, they're going to go for heavy air strike on kiev and then the massive convoy will roll in right after.

Not really the appropriate thread to go into it but if you do some searching on his real name it quickly comes to light. Essentially he went on trial for something and was found innocent but the fact the case went as far as it did left a bad taste in his mouth for the way things work in the UK.
