Well that would make sense.

Imagine the Kremlin have resolved this to some degree, but hopefully the comms and supply problems contribute to more desertions.

Look up NATO Enhanced Forward Presence. UK leads the Estonian battlegroup based out of Tapa. We currently hold approx a Battlegroup plus at high readiness out in Estonia.

I asked for examples of US troops and weapons, not UK.

You wont find many Yanks in Estonia as that is not there area of operations for the EFP, they head up the Polish region. We have plenty of "weapons" in the border regions with Russia but not nukes.

What weapons, specifically, does the US have in the border regions with Russia?

With the current shenanigans. NATO has also bolstered a lot of troops and equipment across the whole frontage.

Yes. But not before then. That's the point.

Well you have accepted that there are US troops in estonia but rejected it.

The numbers are so small as to be insignificant. Tell me why Russia should be concerned about 120 US soldiers in Estonia.

There are 5400 US troops in poland, excluding US troops in nato, which is 1060 apparently.

There are now 5,400 US troops in Poland. Their numbers were boosted in response to Russia's belligerence towards Ukraine. Again, that's the point.

There are US troops and weapons deployed in Poland, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. All of which have a border with Russia.

Nope. The US withdrew her paltry 700 marines from Norway in 2020.

Poland and Lithuania share a border with Kalingrad Oblast, which is a Russian owned territory left over from the USSR. It's an exclave outside mainland Russia.

Latvia had a grand total of 1,500 NATO troops until Russia decided to invade Ukraine. It now has a bunch of US helicopters and a few hundred US troops.

So we have a consistent pattern here:

* countries that don't actually border Russia and have an insignificant number of US troops
* countries that border Russia and also have an insignificant number of US troops

There are no countries bordering Russia with any significant US military presence, and no countries bordering Russia that have US nukes. This has always been the case, which is why Russia's pathetic whining about 'pressure from NATO on our border' is a shameless lie.

And then there's the fact that the US also has a border with Russia too.

No it doesn't, unless a convenient land bridge has miraculously appeared in recent days.

Back in the old days, Russia wasn't even bothered about Estonia and Latvia - it saw them as too small and could easily be annexed with ease. So any "bordering and ex-soviet member" comments are a load of tosh.

I would make the point that whatever Putin is saying is simply to serve Putin internally or externally.

Yeah, the entire narrative is 100% propaganda. Putin pretends to be terrified of 120 US soldiers in Estonia, 1,500 in Latvia, etc. This is cited as 'evidence' of intolerable military pressure from NATO, and people are eating it up as if it's a credible argument. Absolute joke.

Anyone out after curfew was warned they'd be considered saboteurs (armed combatants) with the express risk of being shot at and we also know Russian soldiers or mercenaries have been dressing up as Ukrainian armed forces to trick people.

Waste of time trying to figure out what's going on and since Russia is inherently untrustworthy I have to err towards Ukraine who have no reason whatsoever to hurt their own people unless they were enacting some treason.
They have been doing that, I found lots of disturbin footage, it made my heart sink.

I also think Putin is turning back Russia to being a imperial "communist" state for the next generation. It's the only way he can guarantee his family's standing in the next generation plus keep the oligarchs close but nominate the next leader himself. If capitalism remained in Russia he would see that the oligarchs have a shot at becoming the next leader through money. It stops any rivals competing for leadership.

A war like this simply forces the hand outside powers to put up the walls around Russia. This forces the economics back and cements his position.

Simply an imperial "Tsar" wrecking the country to ensure his next generation remains on top and one last chance to clip the court hierarchy. His kids must still be young and this facilities the depression of rivals before they come of age.

That would also align with his rumoured ill health and his total dominance character.

Putin only has two daughters, both in their mid thirties.

Really cannot see either taking over leadership of Russia.

if he nukes there will be nothing for his kids, even if they hide out I am sure there is a hit squad to take out his bunker after the nukes drop. A squad that has everything needed to get into deep bunkers to kill the leaders. These squads are better protected than the leaders, they are designed to survive nukes.

some of these have been posted but these are the longer versions of drone hits.
You se the russian troops standing about and it hits.
These drones are savage, are upping the kill rate, almost like ww1.

That is what precision stand-off weaponry does. Reality. People think it's like the movies. In reality bodies vaporise. People crawl mortally injured and die in front of you in the thermal camera.

War only serves war.

Putin only serves himself.

I'd bet that the Russian "dead hand" is also tied up with that bunker. So any bomb to go through the bunker or bright flashes will trigger a ICMB launch - no humans in the chain. It's fully automated - nuts I know. Death by computer.

Actually thinking about it - I suspect the "hightened" nuclear level that the Russians elevated to is actually the enablement of the dead hand. I remember reading something that said it enabled at a hightened level of nuclear readiness. So I think currently their ICBMs are sat on an automated trigger as protection for Putin, his family and friends.

This is the problem, they dont see the full impact these things have. Those guys that go off to fight will never return or if they are lucky to they will be different.
