To lighten the mood, my wife’s brother and his wife stayed with us Tuesday night and this morning we were all discussing the Ukraine situation.
My wife said, “If Putin goes nuclear then it’s goodbye world.”
Her brother, who if he lived in a village would qualify to be their resident idiot, came out with a doozy, “Won’t bother us, we’re going to Tenerife on Friday, we’ll be okay.”
As I closed my eyes and slowly shook my head from side to side, his wife jumped to his defence, “What’s the matter Jean, he’s not wrong, Tenerife is miles from Ukraine!”

Kind of like how our lockdowns were never immediate but instead a time frame given to allow people to evade the rules.

Common government strategy to appear to do more than you actually doing.
 
A lot of the Russian people must be looking on in great sadness as Russia simply gets erased from everything good.

Similar to me today. Chatting to our cleaner she said "What do you think of all this? I don't want this to end in an argument so i'll ask first which side you're on....oh good I've had argument with some of my friends who think it's all Ukraines fault". I was actually wearing my Blue/Yellow top at the time. I'm not critising the cleaner at all (god bless her) but I was taken aback by the anecdote that some people in the UK were "on the Russian side". If we don't get nuked surely stupidity will end up killing us all....
