Russia only want a cease fire so they can restock supplies. They did this in Syria anyway. The Ukranians should turn the screw now

I just hope NATO and the EU don't strong arm Ukraine into a bad peace like they did in 2014.
How would this thing been prevented?

Tbf it gives Ukraine a chance to resupply and move up reservists from the west and train new militia. Also those cities are going to be running low on food.

It's almost like Putin wants a world war, but wants somebody else to start it
I doubt that, they need an out now, one that saves face.
Putin wanted Ukrain whole, with a puppet goverment and full control to start off the glory days again along with Belarus.
Ukrain put up a fight and said no, so he threw his toys out the pram and resorted to indiscriminate bombing of the civilians.
With the sanctions in place a destroyed country and a hostile population there is no way he can control it now and he knows it.
I wonder if that's why they are hitting the occasional ship too.
Well we will find out if a move is made on Romania or Poland.
LOL. I'm listening to a Sci fi book Expeditionary Force and one species has great names for its ships. "Will Do Shady Things for Cash" or "It Was Like That When We Got Here" are some of the funniest.

I hope you're right, but I can't see Putin running off with his tail between his legs. He'll want something from all this economic impact that's for sure.

By not getting involved in Ukraine at all. By not pushing the expansion of NATO, by not demonising and poking Russia at every opportunity.
Ukraine are just stuck In the middle of a never ending battle of east and west.
Personally I did believe they would take it in a couple of days, the mighty Superpower sweeping through Ukrain, they didn't stand a chance but here we are with a country I would rather have with us than against us.
They kicked ass in a fair fight but sadly air power was the downfall, the Jets they thought they were getting may have made the difference.
Russia wasnt doing to well in the air at the start but numbers were on their side.
