Doubt it would be enacted, similar to how Russia did nothing when turkey shot one of their planes down

Thermobarics are not banned.

Certain sorts of cluster bombs are banned not all of them, and Russia never agreed or signed up to the ban so are free to use them.

And it is a war, people die, civilians die, get over it.

God knows how all you poor souls would have coped during WW2 when allied forces firebombed and flattened 15 german cities, litterally burning thousands of civilians alive

Getting on for half a million German civilians were killed during the war, you lot would have had Churchill and Roosevelt up as war criminals.

Really just get a grip on reality.

Go look at the videos of mlrs rockets and shelling falling into residential blocks in Kharkiv. If you still think the same after, well…

Far easier to not invade a country that wants to co-exist peacefully with it's neighbours.

The IRA in its later years used to phone in a warning before blowing civilians up on the mainland as well, didn't make it any less despicable.

As far as I understand it would be up to the members to decide whether this warrants a response or not. Anybody with more knowledge on the subject?

I think we are so desperate to avoid ww3 the Russians could shoot down an American AWAACs and we'd do nothing except lodge a complaint.

Again, whataboutery. Happened before even my parents were born. We're in 2022, not 1940.

I don't believe NATO would have control over the response, individual countries as part of NATO can invoke article 5 and act accordingly, correct me if I'm wrong :)

Part of the problem with arming and encouraging civilians is so that it makes them targets. It’s a great story but unnecessarily puts untrained people in harms way.

Also it’s inevitable that some civilians are going to get caught in the cross fire or by stray shells ect. War is a dirty and messy business.

Yep. Looks glorious in the tele until these poor sods get shredded in a non PlayStation type way by trained troops. Then the whole francs-tireur kicks in and everyone is fair game.

Not up against trained troops though (largely), they are up against conscripts with minimal training or motivation.

Yeah, and the mongols put whole cities to the swords. The Ukrainians should be thankful! And so should all of us to be watching the restraint of the brave Russian forces.

There’s some top drawer rubbish in here tonight.
