So one thing that I keep running over in my simple mind, another comparison I feel slightly drawn to after WW1. When Germany was sanctioned to the ground and forced the demilitiarise and pay a huge amount of money to the western countries, it left than bankrupt and with a destroyed economy.

If during this somehow Putin is gone and the Russian economy is dead, there has got to be some provisions in place to fix Russia's economy, otherwise there will be millions of family's in poverty who never even supported Putin anyway. Therefore it could be a breeding ground for what we saw in the developments for WW2.

I know it sounds abit far fetched but it only takes 1 man mad drawn from poverty in an inflation ridden country, where everyone is struggling to make a go of life.

It just feels like history repeating itself, not a exact like for like comparison but I feel there could be a banana skin there, that's ofc if we manage to ever get rid of Putin.

unless maybe they're including captured/deserted/otherwise no longer actively fighting in the dead figures.

likewise if they include abandoned/stuck in traffic/stolen and sold on ebay vehicles in the destroyed categories.

I don't see anything in the sanctions that would take long to roll back - almost as quickly as they were imposed. It would be more of a "do we trust them to play nice now" political judgement than anything else (imo!).

Today's sanctions are punitive to stop the war and its repeats. Hopefully after Putin has been ejected and normality reasonably returns, sanctions will be removed and perhaps Russia helped to be a better world citizen.

Problem is China will be looking at the speed sanctions are lifted, they will then use this to decide how costly going Taiwan would be.

Probably not much - 90% of it is old stuff where you can even find detailed technical drawings, etc. online heh.

Hopefully we learn something worthwhile about capability, or maybe just the fact the armor in some of these tanks isn't built as thickly as it should (speculative).

you said it was only men being denied in the videos you saw and then dismissed it as people trying to start a race divide based off of "unreliable" social media posts. Which now we know the first part is not true. Ironic considering you are talking about misinformation.

He'd need an obvious buildup if he fancied trying to take Taiwan and if you think Russian troops have been having a rough time then that's nothing compared to what an amphibious invasion of Taiwan would be like.

There are only a couple of months in the year when an invasion is really worth thinking about and there are relatively few places where they could feasibly land, obviously the Taiwanese are well aware of that, it could be utter chaos. I mean they might indeed try something stupid and of course, China is getting stronger and stronger so at some point it is a risk but I suspect we'll see some build-up to it in advance.

It's not saving private ryan, they would not be running up the beaches to be slaughtered.

The might of their freet and airpower would pummel everything for miles first.

Unlike Russia, China is building new and powerfull weopons every day, their fleet of warship and aircraft carriers are up their with the best,

China is a very capable foe, a war with them will be costly.

That makes no sense, why would NATO decline? more countries are wanting to join, it's like a super power on it's own, with the USA in NATO why do you think the Russians invaded Ukrain?

It was to keep them out, to invade before they were accepted. The Russions couldn't invade if they were accepted as invading would have brought all of NATO to their defence.
