I dunno man the nuclear fallout if they damage the power stations feels like an everyone problem.

If anyone seriously thinks the Russian soldiers on the ground are suicidal enough to actually damage the reactors or cooling systems etc is delusional.

It was a prime target, get the power stations , turn them off, stop all power to Ukraine, it is simple strategy.

All true, but the “should have been done a while back” sits firmly on the Tories watch. Seasoned with a nasty whiff of funding and cover-ups (yes I mean Brexit) it’s not a lunch I am enjoying.

Are we now matching all EU sanctions and timelines?
Not going there with Brexit, we sit on opposite sides. We are supporting the EU. We were instrumental in removing Russia from Swift. We have stiffened the European resolve regarding Russian gas supplies together with the US. You may hate Boris and the Tories but in this fight with Russia they have been quite effective. We supplied the first anti tank and anti air and continue to do so.

No. Alternative is not to wade into someone else's war with NATO troops.

“Someone else’s war”

Your so simple aren’t you?
You can’t possibly see the larger picture with this?

We’re not suggesting to go in gung ho but we are already involved. It is “someone else’s war” that will and is affecting the whole of Europe and the world.

Geopolitics and things like this are complicated.

Less chance in my view.

He will have surrounded himself with people who will die for him, they are that loyal.

Not a snowballs chance in a furnace that anyone with ill intentions could get within a mile of Putin without getting killed first.

Putin at the moment, will be the most protected man on the planet, more chance of someone on this forum getting assainated, than Putin.
He’s surrounded himself with fellow kleptocrats, their money will be worth to them than loyalty to Putin. IMO the chance of Putin being offed is miles more likely than a nuclear war.

Where do we go from here ?

The rest of the world are collectively imposing sanctions in the hope of grinding Russias economy and war machine to a halt but nothing more. How long will this take is the question that no one can answer but from what I can see it’s not going to slow down anytime soon . It’s clear Putin has a war chest that is enough to continue his occupation and the take over of Ukraine and beyond.

Internal public opinion to overturn Putin is very unlikely given the Politburo is now in full swing and the Gulag is slowly filling up with protesters. Military cou? Only likely when Putin has his fingers over the button .

Given NATO have made it totally clear they don’t want to take on the might of the Russian Army we have in turn given a clear message for Putin to do as he wishes to any non NATO country . Who’s next , Moldova , Finland , Sweden , IRELAND ! ?

NATOs red lines are clear for everyone to see , any attack on a NATO county is an attack on all NATO country’s . So we can’t get involved .

So back to the question where do we go from here ? Given the way we are heading it’s going to end up with millions of displaced refugees , tens of thousands dead , the annex of the whole of the Ukraine , a dead Ukrainian president paraded on sate TV . Rinse and repeat with Moldova and any other non NATO country and we just stand by and do nothing but sanctions!

REALLY !!!!

I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for this but unless things sort themselves out and quick i believe NATO , U.S , EU and the rest of the world will have to put this dog down and if that’s at the risk of a button being pressed then so be it.

The Balkan conflict is going to look like a tea party compared to what’s about to happen .

Given the economic sanctions that have collectively been placed on Russia I’m sure China will have second thoughts about that .

rumours are that Chinese leadership has put Taiwan on the major back burner and will wait until they are the major super power (if ever), the sanctions has scared them and they realise that sanctions on China would be even stronger

Ideological blindness is quite prominent in these forums.

I don’t hate the Tories I just think the current incumbents are sub-par. I agree they looked strong at the start but why do they appear to be flagging? I do mean politically because it’s a fact we’ve been there with the arms for a while. The Russian ties have the potential to blunt any political weaponry we might have. That is my concern sir.

No I am talking about security, not advisors.

Can guarantee anyone getting within a few feet of Putin at the moment will have been thoroughly searched and checked.

So unless you are saying one of these kleptocrats will use their money to send in missiles and flatten the Kremlin, no one and nothing is getting close enough to be a real threat.

Seems they tried to flick the switch with a mortar?
