Couple of the Russian helicopters which semi-crash landed and were abandoned likely due to poor maintenance didn't appear to have been updated since the 1970s.

Ka-52, first flew in 1997 in service since 2000 - at least 2 have been shot down (photos show winglet missing and holes in engine cowling next to turbine)

Well that would also destroy their economy. They would also sell it elsewhere reducing non-Russian oil/gas in those countries and would have to do it at less than the market rate.

It's not difficult to grasp - if Ukraine defend it like their country depends upon it, which it does, then how do you think that will go? Nuclear waste contaminating a good % of Europe for years to come released by a country intentionally attacking a power station is more of a reason to respond than a currently localised conflict.

I have not checked in a long time but half Russian budget depended on tax revenue from energy related sector. Their oil price assumption is probably set conservatively around $50. So with such high energy prices (even after deducing discount to russian sourced oil as markets are scared to trade it) they might still have a budget surplus as long as they will continue to get revenue from gas sales.

In simple terms they cannot afford to turn off the tap.

Edit: what am i writing, there is no chance for a budget surplus because all companies are withdrawing. Still the point is they can't afford to turn off the tap, gas and oil revenue is all they have left.
