Well if Russia goes after Sweden next do you think they won't be screaming for help too...
Nah, Moldova is next, they're already in the process of recognising the eastern part of Moldova with Russian minorities as independent, as soon as that's sorted (and Ukraine "resolved") they will begin "peacekeeping" operations there, just like the ones currently in progress in Ukraine >.>

Ukraine invasion: Western sanctions 'equivalent to declaring war' Putin claims as he defends military action | World News | Sky News

Vladimir Putin has described Western sanctions on Russia as being "equivalent to declaring a war", insisting that his invasion of Ukraine was driven by a need to protect Russian speakers in the country.

Speaking to female flight attendants in comments broadcast on state television, the Russian president said Moscow wanted Ukraine to be "demilitarised", "de-nazified" and to have a neutral status.

He said: "These (sanctions) are methods of fighting against Russia.

"These sanctions that you can see are equivalent to declaring a war - but thankfully it has not come to an actual war but we understand what these threats are about."

may aswell just go all in on him

Tankies in meltdown at the loss of RT America.

Kim Iversen is an absolute div! ".....most honest programming was found on RT America."

Amount of planes and helicopters lost today is immense. The same with tanks if it has taught the west one thing is that planes and tanks are 20th century obsolete weapons.

Such a huge waste of life and money when a drone could do the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

I think it'll be a completely different situation.
Im sure the Swedish government won't want to provoke WW3 though. Swedes are very weird.

No, they're not a waste but there are ways of using them, obviously, drones are excellent for loitering and dropping bombs but planes have a range of uses... also an obvious issue for Russia is the lack of precision munitions, this doesn't just pose a risk for the unfortunate civilians in the cities they bomb but also means the planes have to fly lower in order to drop the unguided munitions roughly on target... leaving them vulnerable to MANPADs.

Likewise, tanks and armoured vehicles are very useful but not so much if you've got conscripts or badly paid/badly trained and badly supplied troops who don't want to be there and are scared to dismount.

That's true. Moldova must be feeling very vulnerable just now.

Read a few tweets today (OSINTdefender/OSINTtechnical) claiming that Ukraine launched a big counter offensive in the Kharkiv region today/yesterday. One of those claimed that Ukraine has effectively destroyed an entire regiment (>1000 troops) and pushed them all the way back to the border . Found this link (https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2022/03/4/7328307/) backing it up, but as a biased news source it has to be taken with a pinch of salt. There a couple of new videos today showing destroyed Russian vehicles allegedly from this area (it's snowing in those videos + weather reports are that it's snowing in the region), so perhaps some truth to the story.

I hope it’s true and I hope we are getting a load of arms into their hands.

The problem with the Russian tanks is none of them have active anti-anti-tank systems, only passive explosive armour which tandem warheads of NLAWs etc bypass.

And Russian Air-force have been tactically (well, their entirely military has been) poor.

What does this actually mean?
Has the bank that amount of assets in the UK economy? we freeze the bank from trading, so those amounts are left sitting in asset limbo?
Do the rich who bought half of London pay their mortgages to such banks, if so can they pay for not? Does the bank continue to collect but not be able to pass along?

Interesting development as Azerbaijan who has defensive treaties with both Russia and Ukraine will suspend all flights to Russian cities starting tomorrow.

Translated: "AZAL and Buta Airways will suspend all flights to the cities of the Russian Federation from 08:00 on March 6."

It's just R-M saying we are better than the EU.

I would guess its just holding onto the cash, presumably the Russians involved need access to settle bills that cannot be paid in rubles.

Yes when you freeze assets they sit in limbo, I'm not sure that very rich Russians necessarily have mortgages and if they did have mortgages (presumably denominated in GBP) they could be from any number of banks, not necessarily Russian which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with this.

Sanctions against individual Rich Russians/Oligarchs connected to Putin will likely take a bit of legal action and are separate to this.
