Neither was I(should have said conventional first strike) , but what your suggesting is likely to start a nuclear war especially with how unhinged Putin is, so if you’re going to get yourself in a position that’s likely to start a nuclear war , you need to be in a position to take out the other sides nukes all at the same time.

Which is a pretty massive task as many are in subs around the world, and others are on mobile launchers that could be anywhere within Russia.

You only need to miss half a dozen or so, and that's most of western Europe obliterated.
