Whilst this is the most positive signs I've seen so far from Russia, I do doubt that even if they were to agree to those terms that Russia would actually leave. I fear Russia will for the foreseeable, continue to involve itself in Ukraine.
Lets face it, unless Putin is some how removed, Russia wont be leaving Ukraine without having gained something.

Welcome back a militarised Europe FFS.
Everyone not in NATO will be speedrun into it.

We can repeat this again a few years later but with a deader Putin.

It's possible that Ukraine might agree to surrender the parts of the regions that have been occupied by Russia, but I don't think they will surrender the entire of the two regions.

I feel like Putin has drastically overstepped here, he's got himself into a right bloody mess and maybe he's beginning to realise it?

It doesn't have any leverage at the table either - why would Ukraine agree to anything, when Russia has just lied it's arse off from the start, furthermore - why should it? Putin played the military hand, and it's just turned into a nightmare for him.

This surely has to be one of the biggest blunders in modern history, surely?

Part of me still feels that this would be an L for Putin.

He plainly wanted the whole of Ukraine for himself and to install a puppet government. With the sheer amount of troops and equipment he’s lost combined with the crippling sanctions that are crashing his economy, it doesn’t seem like much of a win whichever way you look at it. And the world will know big bad Putin has been forced into a climb down.
 
If Russia is banned from all inter-bank currency transfers, I’m guessing the Germans will be handing over shipping containers full of Euros at the nearest Russian border going forward.

Those regions will now likely extend across the entire coast of the Black Sea.

I wonder what the normally vocal Greta has to say to the overly pliable German leaders about energy supplies and sources at the moment? This is what putting a Green child on the stage and idolising her does...
 
What is stopping Ukraine taking the deal and then allowing the USA to plonk a massive military/air base there full of f-22s

That would be interesting.
