Busy in the air today along the Ukraine border - multiple ISR platforms including Rivet Joint, ARTEMIS and AWACs, Polish air force and a bunch of stuff which must be there in support which don't have transponders on.

Got sick & tired of seeing this around the place, so I decided to tackle it. As usual, 4chan is wrong about everything.

With either version at least they have some work experience, which is more than can be said for many British MP's. The main qualification for government here is; which school did you go to.

Yeah the irony is that this meme attempts to discredit them, but when I started digging I found they were amply qualified for their roles.

You'd be worried about what fate is awaiting the Ukranian refuges heading to Russia. Prison? Execution? Held hostage? What humanitarian support is Russia going to provide with their unfolding economic situation?

He knows they won't go and he doesn't want them to leave, Ukrainian soldiers are risking their lives to help them and their consuming food and water needed for the army. While at the same time he can say to the Russian population look how kind I am helping Ukrainian civilians flee, and then he can blame further civilian deaths on the Ukrainian army claiming they won't allow them to leave to Russia. Putin has a twisted mind, it's all a game to him he will use anything including civilians to give him an advantage.

Just saw a video pop up on reddit where a Russian tank stops and fires on a civilian vehicle being driven by a 60yr old couple. The aftermath was quite grim :(

I vote NATO picks a date and states a no fly zone will be in effect from that date.

It's time to take control of the situation and call Putin's bluff. Too many people are dying, and the Russian army seem to be a law to themselves, running amok.

Problem with a no fly zone is that it becomes an issue for the Ukraine forces who cannot fly drones about for recon and attack tasks. Currently the major advantage for them has been the drone strikes on convoys and the like. Without them the Russian forces have larger numbers on the ground it sounds like.

Sirens in Kyiv - been a bit unusual at this time of day lately. Someone said there were ballistic missile launches in Belarus.

EDIT: Sounds like explosions on the edge of the city.

That ‘could’ happen. Better stay in the war zone then. Better not safe than sorry.

...and call Putin's bluff.

If they did declare a no-fly zone then they wouldn't be calling Putin's bluff, rather it would be NATO's bluff on whether or not they would enforce it which would be highly unlikely as it could be a catalyst for WW3.

Obviously this no-fly zone idea completely ignores the fact that NATO is a defensive organisation, so it's all a non-starter any way.

NATO has done no fly zones before to protect a population.

Maybe it is overt signalling to Russia, testing some of the prototype systems like ARTEMIS and/or ally interoperability in closer to real world situations but given the activity I've seen on Flight Radar over the last few days I'm not so sure they won't be pulling the bluff if this goes on much longer. It is almost unthinkable but the feeling I get from what I'm observing in terms of specific utilisation of assets and what, general patterns of missions, etc. doesn't fit with sitting back in a defensive posture and/or feeding Ukraine info forever.

EDIT: On a related note - whelp those F-15s are loud - just had some fly nearish my house but not that near and very audible.
