It's going full on NK at the moment.

The Russian people are ***** only themselves to blame for allowing the **** show in charge to get claws further and further in.

They’re already talking about securing bread to feed the people. Soviet era here we come!

It will be interesting to see the response once or if the majority of their population are living like that. It may have been okay back in the 40s and 50s when bread was a staple of people's diets but how many Russians are going to put up with it in the 21st century.

It's about time they assembled a team of straight-up killers from the depths of Siberia's worst prisons, and go suicide squad on Vlad.

My worry is they will adopt a victim mentality, rally around the flag and blame us.

Why are Russia doing this and messing about with Chornobyl? Why have they severed the power cable keeping the coolant pumps operating and disconnected it from the grid? It puts everyone at risk including themselves and makes no sense.

The wind can transfer the radioactive cloud to other regions of Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Europe.

Maybe he wants to poison the Ukranians. I don't think he cares much about his own people either since he's continuing the war and letting the economy tank.

Russia is in freefall and he doesn't give a ****.

It sounds like they severed a powerline rather than deliberately cutting off Chernobyl. Russia is trying to make things as bad as possible for Civilians, cutting power is probably aimed at doing that rather than targetted at Chernobyl, and they simply don't know what the impact of cutting power is on the plant.

I don't believe they would deliberately release radiation from Chernobyl because the prevailing winds in the area will primarily distribute that radiation onto Belarus and Russia as well as the initial release mostly hitting their own troops.

Well they already claimed that Ukraine was attempting to make a dirty bomb to target Russia with, so i wouldn't put anything past them.

With Zelensky coming out about not joining NATO and the issues with the disputed regions, i imagine there might be a chance of a deal soon.

Russia must realise that this is not sustainable for them, and the longer this goes on, the more and more costly it is going to get.

It think that may be the long game here, whilst the opportunity to coerce change in Russia is also an opportunity the West won't want to let go. This has been a gift for them, able to strangle Russia economically in a way they haven't had the chance to before. Then we may see a more amiable Russia in the future who will be encouraged to look west like all former soviet states as the youth look West as they have done for the last few decades which has seen the natural progression of those countries moving in that direction too.

It's unfortunate that Ukraine have had to suffer this situation tbh but longer term the West and all other countries are and will always look after themselves. Supporting Ukraine in the way they have is evidenced by this, as they could have done far less but also far more, both having proportionate risk but also opportunity.

Ukraine as a result will likely remain and progress westward in any case, Putin will be gone shortly having completely failed in his objectives to prevent Western leaning borders directly opposite which will see the huge issue he wanted to avoid, not simply limited to military concerns but the direct threat of Western democratic culture and the fruits it bears comparatively with the Russian racket. They wanted another Belarus as a buffer state, to protect this racket as it meant all their main borders and therefore their people overlooked far worse places to be and were somewhat shielded from the attractive benefits of Western culture, democracy and culture (capitalism).
