As far as I'm aware their guided 1500's can be carried on all of their modern Multirole platforms. Wouldnt make a lot of sense to use guided munitions in this fashion though surely?

Good point, I'd forgotten about the guided bombs as the RuAF doesn't seem to have many but the the KAB-1500L (3300lb Laser Guided bomb) can be fitted on the Su-34/35 which would make sense over the aircraft type. I wonder if the Russians were monitoring the phone of someone in the Ukraine military etc and decided that, if they made a call from the hospital, that building must have actually been a command post/storage etc rather than a hospital and added it to the target list. It'd make sense as to why the RuAF may have dropped a fairly specialised bomb if they thought the target was something important.

i'd feel great if you could explain how the words that you typed, won't escalate into nuclear warheads exchange?

I believe Putin is bluffing, and will fold if called. A man so scared of his mortality that he sits at the end of a 5m table to avoid infection is not one willing to be nuked.

Even if not there is a significant gulf between the shooting war and clicking the Doomsday button.

Putin wants us to believe the choice is between standing idly by and ending the world. I don't believe him.

Putin himself is no doubt in a bunker and would survive a nuclear war.

Said this from the start on here won't change my mind.

I think if chemical weapons start getting used that might well be the trigger of the rest getting involved.

Seeing how the west is running scared of Russia’s nukes makes me wonder whether NATO would actually do anything if say Poland were attacked, or would they say “we mustn’t escalate”?
Putin only understands strength and right now we look weak.

well one side are already saying another are doing this with tonnes of ammonia. i won't say which
because i wasnt there and they mostly talk the same language.

It's the same MO Russia used in Syria !

which would be something like 1-4 billion people dead within 1 hour. over Ukraine?

i am flabbergasted of the recklessness of many ppl in here. it's actually scary.
hopefully many are just venting after seeing war from a side.

Not quite a billion in the 1st hour

You call it recklessness ? It's not, it's wanting to stand up against injustice and potential genocide

I counter youre flabbergastery with my own, in that I'm shocked how many cowards there are who are afraid of Putin, he's a bully, you're letting him win with your cowardice

If NATO didn’t respond militarily when a NATO member was attacked, that would be the green light for Putin to do whatever he wanted. It simply cannot, and wouldn’t happen.

After the Americans saying they would be happy if the Poles handed jets over, but not from an American base I'm not so sure any more.

I always thought that Putin was very clever. I never liked the man, but I got the impression that everything he did somehow turned things to his advantage.

Whatever he was hoping to achieve has massively backfired. Things are different now. I'm old enough to remember how the first McDonalds restaurant opened in Moscow turned into a huge news story. Since then russian people have steadily become consumers of all the goods that us westerners enjoy, and now they're being taken away. Mobile communications and the internet means that, hopefully, russian people will still get to know what is really going on, even though Putin's regime try to stop the flow of info.

I know it's a long shot, but a russian revolution resulting in a true democracy and Putin getting his comeuppance would be ideal.
