Is there any reason why Ukraine didn't join Nato before this all started (like for example a few years before ) ?
To join the Alliance, nations are expected to respect the values of the North Atlantic Treaty, and to meet certain political, economic and military criteria, set out in the Alliance’s 1995 Study on Enlargement. These criteria include a functioning democratic political system based on a market economy; fair treatment of minority populations; a commitment to resolve conflicts peacefully; an ability and willingness to make a military contribution to NATO operations; and a commitment to democratic civil-military relations and institutions

My impression is that both sides cannot agree on a single thing.
It must be seriously hard for the Ukraine ministers to keep cool, knowing that Russia sent killers to take them out.
Mainly because in order to join NATO all 30 countries must agree. I think there is (understandably) trepidation around allowing a country still fresh from conflict into NATO where any aggression following joining demands armed response. Is there any reason why Ukraine didn't join Nato before this all started (like for example a few years before ) ?
So, when Russia inevitably implodes in on itself is it going to be with a lacklustre *pop* and *fizz* or will it be a spectacularly large *BOOM*?
That is the big question, will Putin follow his words with action.
"Why do we need a world without Russia in it.? "
He will have nothing to loose if Russia gets close to completely imploding and failing.
Just hit the button and laugh, like the playground bully bursting the football.
If I cannot have it no one will.

If the fate of the world hangs on those close to him or chain of command it is a 50/50 thing IMO, despite the claims some make which I think are more about reassuring themselves than the reality.
I'd imagine those close to him would all be too suspicious of each other to try and organise something within themselves to take him out or subvert him as well unfortunately.
SA increasing oil output now, that should put the squeeze on russia and take the pressure off the oil prices q bit
