I can think of one major reason. The Ukrainians are actually fighting for their survival. Unlike the Afghans who dropped all their weapons as the Taliban decided to take over. Now they have to deal with the consequences of not defending against the Taliban.

Without wanting to go wildly off topic, yes those 5 million kids deserve to live in famine because their army, and their allies, surrendered. Get a grip.
Whilst the UK and the West are helping Ukraine to a point, we can still be critical of our government in other areas. Afghanistan is a stain on our reputation tbh.

Yep it's different story, the Taliban has support in Afghanistan, there is a large chunk of society who want them in power so you cannot win and you cannot make a difference end of story they will have to sort themselves out, we can't help them until the whole country is ready to move to the 21st century and kick out religion
