It does feel like Russia is a little “stuck” here currently with little to no movement in most of Ukraine aside from missile and artillery attacks continuing on some of the besieged cities like Kharkiv and Mariupol. I’ve been watching Steve Lookner’s Live YT channel (Agenda Free News) and he’s being going over a few bits, seems to be rumours of Wagner Group mercenaries and Syrians being brought in but unlikely they’re high enough “quality” to make much difference.

Sky news just covered that Russian Channel 1 editor segment and went into some more detail. The lady's parents are both Ukraine and Russian, other reports say she was arrested shortly after. The channel itself she protested on is the most watched news channel in Russia and always "slaveringly" reports on what the Kremlin says according to Sky News. So her protest would have reached the vast majority of Russian TV viewers.

not that Blair has much, if anything to do with anything, but there’s a distinct difference between being “pally” with someone and being in their direct employ like Farage is/was.

Yeah very different relationships - Tony Blair has been, or tried to be, quite pally with a few undesirables - I think probably more out of an aspiration for being some kind of grand peacemaker than any belief in or attempt to further their ideals.

40k syrians have registered to fight. Dumb founding.

1) Putin will lay this new fodder, but can't even supply his own troops.
2) Letting this monster into eastern areas,in my opinion is just asking for long term terrorism hell for ukraine AND Russia.
3) That's a lot of bloody bodies to add. At what point is enough enough and we intervene?

Is it OK to attack syria now then?

Turns out the Russian TV lady may have been propaganda, quite a clever trick to play really

For who? The Russians? Got a source for that?
As I saw it, she had enough, and did nothing in 2014 etc, and supposed Putin then etc. She said she must do something this time against him.

Especially when zero Syrians have left Syria for Russia

Independent researchers have confirmed Putin's popularity among the Russian population. They support him and this war, there's no denying it.

Putin's approval rating hasn't dropped below 63% since 2013.

And there it is.

He is the leader..he routinely has people killed for saying anything he doesn't like. What's the issue. Other than trying to scape goat Putin, we all know they support it. They want communism and power back.

EDIT: I did watch a 10 minute video blog just now saying that 'there is no live TV' etc, and it is indeed propaganda. So if that's the case, to what end? To give more time to the Russian forces, by making the west 'think' that the people might be turning?

Thoughts?

Russian propaganda is all about creating confusion by spreading multiple narratives simultaneously. The Russian government came up with more than a dozen versions of what happened in Salisbury with Novichok, some of them contradictory. All of them were still pushed across state media and defended vigorously.

'Russian media have published 20 different narratives on Skripal poisoning.'

'A Timeline Of Russia's Changing Story On Skripal Poisoning.'

Occasionally Russia reuses her stories for a different event, as she did with the poisoning of Navalny, which mirrored the Salisbury propaganda: 'Salisbury all over again: novichok in trends of Russian propaganda.'

Russia uses a firehose approach to swamp the airwaves with different messages and keep the overall picture as murky as possible.

My guess is that this latest piece of propaganda is designed to appeal to those in Ukraine and the West who are saying 'Surely Russians can't support this war, surely they are reasonable?' By convincing them that the Russians are indeed capable of sympathising with the other side, they make the Ukrainians look more extreme by comparison, and give false hope to any Westerners pressuring their governments not to get involved.

It's not going to make any real difference over more than a few weeks/months

Aircraft require regular parts and servicing, potentially all that happens if you nationalise the aircraft is that you get another few hundred that might be able to run for a few weeks each before they're in need of servicing with parts that you don't have access to.
I mean you can cannibalise them to keep an ever decreasing number going, but it's not a solution and if you nationalise them you basically guarantee you'll never be able to buy anything from the manufacturer (or anyone else in the industry) again without paying up front, which even the biggest, most profitable operators tend not to do as a single airframe routinely costs in the hundreds of millions.

What's stopping them from setting up a company or 2 in China/Syria or some other location and just placing orders from there, then those orders get rerouted to Russia.

I would have thought they would end up doing this for most products they needed.

We have done airstrikes on Syria not that long ago, they probably still remember.
