I don't think this is a surprise. I expect this was considered when we decided what to send.

You're right that it should not be a surprise, clearly my source of information on how the war has been going forgot to mention this.

However my concerns is with the future, this only serves to make china stronger and more dangerous.

The Chinses probably had examples of most of it anyway if it was more than a few years old.

And just because you have a physical example of something doesn't mean you can successfully reverse engineer it (and start making your own copies) any faster than you could design it yourself from knowing roughly how it worked,

China's military technology is not as advanced as ours. Depending on what Russia has found, China may not be able to reverse engineer it. Or it may be something they already have.

I guess they could have got it from stuff left in the middle east.

It not necessarily about making copies but getting insight on how to improve their systems.

China probably got detailed blueprints of all our top level stuff from a bus stop somewhere knowing how well security is handled in this country. /jk

They've only recently worked out the basics of aircraft carriers, 80 years after everyone else. They had to buy a half finished rusting ex-Soviet hull using subterfuge in order to try and reverse engineer something to 40+ year old standards...
