Finally. 0800 I had a call to say he’d be 5 mins. 3 mins latter knock knock. Brilliant chap, we talked tech and about it all.
1st issue locating the CBT. I knew where it was but the documents he had was wrong.
2nd issue was the CBT wasn’t active. He had to call them and that took and hour but sorted.
I was more than happy to do away with the copper so this was used to pull the new fibre in. Really impressed that it comes pre terminated in the CBT end. No issue pulling the new line. Cut the side of the duct so the cable could run across neatly.
Only issue is when he drilled from the inside out. I had advised go slow because you’ll blow the render but really you should go outside in. Having already done it my self for a Ethernet run to the garage I knew the risks. Anyway he didn’t and nice big chunk blown off. Thankfully he fitted the box over it and did plaster it with silicon.
Splicing took a few goes but it was good. Then the hub went online. 5 mins latter it’s doing and update.
Everything is basic and dirty for now just to make sure it works.
Chatting away I’m the 1st to have FTTP from this CBT. It’s an 8 port unit but the CBT only supplies a few properties. It’s also looks like there is no limit on the new of lines you can have which is interesting.
