It's got nothing to do with the missiles, it's about trying to keep out the Russian soldiers attempting to get inside, they matter rather more than the missiles.

That depends on the number of missile and the goal. If the goal is destruction, missiles alone will work if enough of them are used. If enough of the city is destroyed and enough of the inhabitants are killed, Russian soldiers can get inside afterwards.

As Tacitus said of the destruction of Carthage - they create desolation and call it peace.

I wonder how Russia would respond to their sanctioned funds being sequestered for the aid of Ukraine by 10-20% every week they continue to wage this war, give them a week to think about it and let every other country in the world know that they had an opportunity to stop it.

Imagine it would provoke them to continue and they'd pretend it was the West that forced them to do so, but if they intended on continuing anyway then it would legitimise further liability.

Even if it happens to what happened to Mariupol? 90% of buildings destroyed? That was my point. After having 90% of buildings destroyed what will stop the soldiers coming in?

Destroyed buildings aren't gone; they're in ruins. It's harder to attack a ruined city because you no longer have clear roads to go down, and little or no idea where an attack might or might not come from. Instead of being able to see what is ahead of you, you have a mixed pile of rubble that might contain nothing or might be hiding a bomb or ambush. Plus these guys have had three and a half weeks to prepare for this attack. They're well and truly dug in now.

Good point. It seems that the huskys are focusing in the south from what I have been following. This is really frustrating. The Ukrainians can’t do anything against missiles.

There is definitely a bit of worry Russia will push on into Poland. I’m not sure the west would push the nuclear button but they would have to be ready to respond.

We shouldn't be waiting that long. The best time to saddle up a coalition of the willing and stop the Russians in Ukraine was four weeks ago; the second best time is now.

I know there's not much chance of that: the rest of the West isn't going to do more than send aid and watch.

Indeed most uranium comes from Kazakhstan, which is very chummy with Putin, and nearly had it own cival war recently.

The other factors is that even if you magicked the money and a suitable location put of thin sir this instant, ignored all required analyses, impact reports, environmental studies and generally msde all the red raoe disappear, a ndw nuclear power station would take 5 years to build.

Alternatively we can install a large amount of solar, wind and battery storage by this summer time.

Friendly countries like Australia, USA and Canada produce large amounts of uranium, not to mention the deposits in central Europe, we wouldn't have to rely on Kazakhstan.

The idea that solar and wind can replace nuclear is fanciful at this point in time, battery storage technology is inadequate.

Apart from a few strikes on key locations, they haven’t pushed on into west Ukraine. They are making a shambles of it. Poland is nato. If they can’t beat Ukraine then they can’t do anything conventional to nato. The whole ‘he won’t stop at Ukraine’ thing is nonsense (it has to be for everyone’s sake).

I cant see the Ruskies attacking Poland. That would cause others to get into the war too.
The report was that Poland has begun making preparations to counter attacks on it by Russia. However that doesn't necessarily mean they're worried about Russia conquering Ukraine and carrying on. There is a chance (albeit most likely a small one) that Poland have finally had enough of the US dismissing their ideas to help Ukraine and telling them not to provide military support, and they plan on going into Ukraine themselves to help Ukraine rout the Russians.

This is my understanding also. Several sources have reported that Poland want to enter Ukraine to fight Russia.
