Definitely seems to be the majority opinion but that also seems to be lead by places like Odesa which haven't seen the same impact, yet, as some other parts of the country. Those in places like Kharkiv and Irpin, etc. probably have a bit different idea.
Not sure the U.S. source for this statement but definitely seems to be what a lot of people are thinking both military and open source intelligence:
I don't trust a word the Russians say, as others have suggested this could be just redeploying to capture more of the South and East.
But if it is genuine and they do give up some land for peace, Ukraine could well get that back in the near future. Russia is finished after this its only a matter of time before they collapse, even if Putin manages to cling on to power when he dies there could be a chance to make a new deal to lift sanctions in exchange for reparations and some territory back.
Also if they do make a deal, let Putin claim a victory, the entire world knows he lost and his army humiliated, half of which now belongs to Ukrainian farmers.
Interesting. It seems to be a fairly common take that his efforts at diplomacy are more a negative trait then anything.
I think it's the opposite for me. Futile or not, I think any kind of dialogue is important and him making attempts to keep that channel open is relatively admirable.

Putin's safe in his bunker now... which looks suspiciously like The Truman Show, but with more explosions, children being shot, and furious masturbation. Fingers crossed (literally) he'll never come back, and live there on a diet of ego-massaging stats and doctored video for the rest of his unnatural life.
Think that is wording - a lot of forces around Kyiv seem to be drawing back and repositioned but for a new offensive further south not repositioned around the Kyiv area, though it isn't fully confirmed what is going on.
On another note video covering the use of tanks:
See a lot of people saying this is the end of tanks on the battlefield but as per the video I disagree with that.
