Not sure how accurate this map is but with Ukraine taking back Chernobyl the Kyiv front looks like a win for Ukraine as whole Russian front in the Kyiv area has collapsed and now they are pushing eastwards to Chernihiv
According to liveuamap and some other sources the Chernihiv region is already fully under Ukrainian control, and the Kyiv region has been for a day or so. There are apparently only a few remaining areas in the north with Russian forces present (the very north-east of the country).
What we're talking about here is direct armed conflict between NATO forces and Russian forces and not simply "facing down". Can you describe these loads of other countries where this has happened?
Hopefully this will continue... I wonder what will happen when they push Russia back to Crimea. Do they keep pushing, or hold at the "new" russian border?
If they do manage to push them back one would hope they could take back Crimea, but Russia has had 8 years to fortify that region, I don't know if they have the forces to take it back. It's not clear how well it's going yet, Russia is falling back in the North but they're building up forces in the East for a possible large attack, if they manage to break through the Ukrainian lines they could cut off Ukraine's forces there.
Makes me wonder if the Russian parades were all staged with fake armour, rockets etc etc! They have been severely embarrassed in this 'war'. Not the super power we were led to believe they were...

Looking at the geography I think it would be very hard to take Crimea back with out a large air force to clear out the obvious choke points. They would also need to take out that bridge to stop the Russian's from reinforcing the area. If Ukraine was bold enough to do this I would wager Putin would pull troops back from the Donbass to try and keep that area under Russia's control. At the moment it's a non starter though, Zelensky has already said he has no plans to take back Crimea and the population there is very pro Russian but it would be a powerful bargaining chip if Ukraine were able to secure it back. At the moment troops are need to hold defend positions in the around Mykolaiv and the south.

If they didn't have nukes (although if any actually work is another matter...) then I have little doubt that there would have been a no fly zone and a NATO 'peacekeeping' force in Ukraine already, and the Russians would have been stomped on severely.
Impossible to verify either way, I just go off of both government's character and history for what is most likely to be the case even if I know it cannot absolutely be confirmed.

Am really hoping that russians haven't pulled back so putin can fire a nuke or chemical weapon at Kyiv
I remember when he was asked when this all started if he would use Nuclear weapons and he replied something along the lines of "anything that is needed"
If Russia has said that they will be limiting its "special operation" to the East then they shouldn't have an objection to a no fly zone over the West.
If they have any intention of doing it then now is the time, before a new push from the East starts
After all the Russian blatant lies to the UN, etc. no one is going to believe their side of the story now short of incontrovertible evidence, and they were the ones who choose to invade not Ukraine.

Yeah they'd need to be able to control the skies at the very least plus a large amphibious assault capability which they don't have and/or complete air supremacy which also seems unlikely. Ukraine might feel differently but aside from as a bargaining chip Crimea seems to have more disadvantages than advantages for Ukraine to retake.

The only other possibility I think off is if the the Ukrainian's can free up forces from Kyiv and give the Russian army group in the south a similar beating as they did to the northern forces they panic and flee back to Crimea with a sword in thier back.
Just imagine the look on Putin's face if he was told Russia lost Crimea, I can't help but think of Rod Stiger who played Napoleon in Waterloo when he was told the guard was broken.

The UN is incapable of handling many of the world's issues, but that doesn't make it a waste of resources. It carries out many useful functions and is much better than not having it. Organisations based around co-operation of nations cannot resolve issues of non-cooperation, but they can help increase the amount of interactions that are co-operative.
