I'm seeing the videos on Telegram groups so I won't post as more backlash, however I get your point, no sources no credibility. That's fair.

Given the outright lies and gas lighting so transparent a child could see through it that Russia has been coming out with in places like the UN it is hard to believe them when it comes to stuff like this even if there was any merit to it.

Doesn't make a lot of sense really - I just can't seem to get clarity on what the next move by Russia is or what is motivating them. If their ambitions are switching to the south and east then Kherson is a strategic position to hold and one they've had time to dig in on.

Watching the Colbert segment today on Ukraine, turns out the 40 mile convoy was taken care of by merely civilians who were hobbyist drone and machinists, so they used those drones and dirt buggies to help ambush the convoy during the nights. Madlads.

And it scares the heck out of me. They're either hiding a mutiny in the hierarchy or planning something big. Hopefully that big thing is "just" turning Donbas into their unassailable fortress, but nothing about Russian decision making makes me comfortable. They are to warfare what Trump is to politics.

I think its more pragmatic.

They know all the professional military from around Kiev is moving towards the east now, and everything around Kherzon was already being well defended and counter attacks. Once re-enforcements arrive the Ukrainians will over-run the city in hours while the Russians try to defend from attacks from outside the city and from within. Its a lost cause. I imagine this is going to be the same story over and over again the next few days/weeks.

Holding hostile territory is near impossible in its own right, let alone when you have a determined army knocking at your door.

Why have you edited the quote so it looks like I said that? It wasn't me, it was

Another possibility, though seems unlikely, the Russian army is even more of a paper tiger and significantly more so than even the wildest accusations and they've got to a point it is fully exposed and have no choice but to draw down to cover the cracks. One of the few reasons I can see them giving up Kherson willingly other than planning something big or some other factor we can't see like internal problems.

Big shots fired by China:

Is this war the end of globalization? me reckons good ol Europe should reclaim its industrial past and become self sufficient in just about everything.

Hopefully, `cause it's a lost cause, an idealistic liberal dream. If anything comes out of the Chinese virus and this situation in Ukraine, I hope it's a realization borders are something precious, no, essential, to man and beast. Sod holidays in the sun and "seeing distant lands", cheap copies of goods financed in development by the West, and lapped up by those so blind as to see where this has now left us.

A lot of the world's problems came about alongside cheap global travel. The airliner, which was initially available only for the wealthy, but soon became the norm for the great unwashed, spread dissatisfaction with one's lot, and recently of course, lethal disease across the globe.

Be self sufficient, on a personal, localised and national level. Work for one's owns benefit, not this globalisation dream that has been found wanting and even dangerous. Accept that economic migrancy wants kicking into touch, don't be so wet as to give up what we have worked for.

And get the bloody population of the world down, a lot, and as quickly as can be, outside of openly killing people. There are still people in Shropshire and probably most rural counties that have never been beyond the county borders, and I would suggest they are no less happy than a multi holiday a year international tourist.

Locally I have never seen so much farming movement to crop growing, the roads are choc a bloc with muck spreading tankers, and fields that for years were just wild places are suddenly now being ploughed ready for planting. At least our wonderful farmers are taking the threat of serious shortages to heart (and probably to the bank... ;)). I hope something positive can come from Mr. Putin's realisation that it's worth creating a "no man's land" for their sovereign protection. A look at what the EU has allowed, security and ethnically wise, is enough to worry anyone not wanting to see their country go the same way. Inevitable really, IMHO.

Delusional.

In summary, if you are not a local you are a wimp. You obviously know best.

Oh Chris, if only you understood how the experiences of rural Shropshire are not the pinnacle of existence you might have saved a few quid on that distance writing course you’ve recently completed :D

I don't know about manufacturing everything in Europe but the more we bring back into Europe the better. Hopefully Europe will stand on its own two feet in the coming decades.
