Hi everyone.

I've just upgraded my GPU from GTX 1070 to a RTX 3070 and I'm not seeing that much difference in game? Some games actually run worse lol

I'm thinking about getting the 5600x to pair with the 3070? would that make a big difference?

Thanks.

That’s not right. Remove drivers with DDU. And report back . What res do you play at.

Can you make sure in the bios your pcie slot is running at the maximum speed. What are your temps like in your case get msi afterburner to report. Will need gpu temps. With after burner check your cpu utilisation as well.

If you've had the games set to low graphics settings to get the most fps you could with your 1070 then that could be why your not seeing much improvement in frame rate with the 3070, the 3070 should be able to run everything at the high / max settings while still having good frame rates.

Upgrading to a 5600 would SE an improvement as would overclocking your ram.

With my 1070 I was getting between 70/90 fps on high settings on bf5 with my 3070 I'm getting 20 fps more same settings with gpu usage of 33%ish, I never use vsync

Thanks for helping.

At 1080p gaming a faster cpu is important than gaming at 4k where the gpu does most of the work. Moving to a 5600x I would expect 10% to 20% increase in fps compared to the 3600 At 1080p.

You shouldn't really notice the difference with the naked eye going from a 3600 to a 5600 in games,
. It's up to you whether the gains are worth it. As said above you should be seeing some good gains going from a 1070 to a 3070 and the 3600 is capable of using more than 33%ish of a 3070. I wonder if there is some built in cap in some of the games you play to get that, eg a vsync cap in the game settings etc

Thanks for helping me out guys. could it be because I'm only using one pcie cable instead of 2 separate cables?
Assuming you mean PCI-E Power cables, then yes ideally you would use two separate branches from the PSU (rather than a single cable with 2 connectors). Although it's unlikely to be the cause of your slow down.

What PSU do you have?
