Slightly surprised there's no thread on this, although that may speak volumes TBF.

Is anyone else finding it all a bit outdated and cringey? My employer doesn't do the bank holidays but fair play to those who do get them. Other than that is there really very much enthusiasm out with the enforced participation?

It all feels a bit King Jong-Un. Maybe every major city could get a missile to march behind? :D

Anyone actually planning an "event"?
 
We've done a few activities with our cubs around it, but personally I'm not that fussed.

While it's nice to have the tradition, and I'm sure the royal family bring in a lot of tourism, they don't really have much effect on our daily lives.

Now if Liz had beheaded Boris for treason, I'd definitely be more of a supporter :D
 
Celebrating a jubilee is a bit weird when you think about it.
it's just celebrating her not dying (which is what birthdays are for :p). She's not voted into position, it's not something she's earned and no one else can remove her.
 
Haven't really heard anything about it locally, no one has been round saying about a street party or anything which is a bit of a relief as need to get the car out. Maybe they are doing one and I'm not invited :cry:

Not really fussed by it all but its likely her last big celebration before Charles becomes King so if people want to go all out then fair enough.
 
My parents street are shutting it down on Sunday for a street party. They had one last time as well. A couple of friends and I are playing (music) for about an hour.

On our estate, they've put all these flags around the green. My wife and I have avoided engaging with them, so I don't actually know what they're doing.
 
I love how it's billed as a four day long weekend, but I've yet to hear of a business that normally opens on Saturdays and Sundays giving employees the day off.

I love how despite England having one of the least number of Bank Holidays, this special occaison resulted in moving the late May Bank Holiday.

All these road closures for street parties are going make transportation fun for some and good luck getting your Amazon etc. deliveries.

Fair play to Liz sitting on the throne for 75 years, I doubt it will be equalled for some time, unless we have some tech advancements.
 
My parents are doing a BBQ and some nibbles.

We tried to organise a small street party but both neighbours either side of us are going away to spend time with family, so we binned the idea on the basis it would be too much hassle. No one has any bunting / flags up on the street... yet.
