Please tell me you guys have seen the Russian air defence in Alchevsk get confused, do a 180, and blow up the launcher?

It is notable on flight radar how far Russian air traffic stays from the border with Ukraine - they obviously have no faith in their own systems never mind any chance of being shot down by Ukraine.

That's impressive manoeuvrability though:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I mean these things are designed to shoot down aircraft which can potentially pull 9G+ during evasive maneuvers so they've got to be able to pull more G's than that so seeing one being able to do such a short 180 turn shouldn't be too surprising I think.

I've got so many questions! Most importantly How? Malfunctioning control surfaces? That's impressive manoeuvrability though:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
Some people were saying those missiles have a mode where if they get jammed they can home in on the strongest radar signal as a failback. You're supposed to turn off your radar if using it. Could be the missile lost contact with the launcher for whatever reason and immediately went after the strongest radar emitter in it's vicinity?

Not sure, either that or as you say a control surface jammed and it just looped back to sender.

Nominally home on jam wouldn't cause it to loop back 180 degrees like that (though if proper procedure isn't being followed all bets are off). Some kind of navigation/control malfunction seems more likely.

Russian air-defence missiles wandering 200 miles off target aren't an unknown though - their systems seem to have been designed around a total war scenario without much care for collateral where as long as you have enough missiles hitting targets the fails don't matter.
