Here's a picture of my new BMW. It's an N55 335i manual and is the first red car I have owned - the colour is Vermilion Red Metallic that is a lighter tone in direct sun and darker in the shade. I like it!

I've already debadged the model designation.

Noticed some rattling coming from my exhaust so booked it into BMW yesterday. They found a crack in it and then told me it's not under warranty.  Apparently as it's an MPE exhaust the AUC won't cover it but then he told me not to worry about and he'll sort it out with sales upstairs and there won't be anything for me to pay. As it's titanium, I'll likely get a new one fitted.

I really hate these moments - acting like they're doing you a favour. Like, is it in - or out; what's the grey area that means he can give away a (presumably) few K exhaust?

Yeah there were a lot of 'that might not be covered under warranty' comments for the other things I booked it in for. Then he tried telling me the car had no warranty. I said I suggest you ring sales upstairs as I bought it under 12 months ago so it should have AUC. Not sure how they're going to pay for the exhaust, he just said it was a case of dotting the i's and crossing t's. I guess it'll come out of the AUC sales budget but then again I don't really care as long as it's fixed/replaced.

It's like the **** I spoke to at Merc suggesting the car had been owned by a builder and therefore the tyres had been perished due to being parked on a building site

Would be pretty poor of them to wangle out of that - did the car come with the MPE?

Sounds like you have a pretty open and shut case if you bought the car less than 6 months ago.

Sounds like the issue they are working through is who is going to pay. The AUC warranty won't cover it so they have to find a dealership budget to take it out of.

Even worse that they're trying to get out of it then!
I'm not sure that they are, but we shall see today when they call me. I'm meant to be test driving a G80 today but I'm not sure I can make it, so I can always try to find out more.

I bought it last August. But I've done fewer than 3k miles in that time. The dealership do have an excellent reputation so I'll be surprised if they try and play any games.

It did, yes, and it was fitted by them before I owned the car.

Would you be okay if they installed a stock exhaust?

I can see their point of view. If they say received a car with an expensive exhaust at the end of a lease of PCP, it's not really something they intended to provide a warranty for. You could argue they should return it to stock before selling. Similarly it could have really expensive forged wheels or something like that.

No, I wouldn’t. The car was previously owned by their service manager and he had it installed. It’s a genuine BMW part, not something aftermarket. If they didn’t want the risk of covering it they should have put the comp exhaust back listing it for sale. I’m sure they also highlighted it on the advert and they certainly mentioned it when I viewed it.

And you likely would have paid for it in the price too

Don't they claim a 20 billion point inspection? That's on them not OP.

Got this as a daily and as usual diamond cut wheels have the white worm

They have been refurbed in past so another diamond cut not a goer, tbh though I find DC far too much hassle even if they do look good

supplying dealer has stumped up 500 quid (warranty) to get them sorted and intend getting them powder coated

booked in here https://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/alloy-wheel/finishes/gallery/

wht colour would you good folks recommend, looking at black chrome or smoked chrome but open to all suggestions

Will they colour match? If so, BMW Ferric Grey is a fab colour.
