This news is a bit old but given all the noise around the east of Ukraine and the arrival of HIMARS into the battle space this got overlooked.

Two US Representatives introduced a bill last week to train Ukrainian fighter pilots on American aircraft.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) authored the Ukraine Fighter Pilots Act to train Ukrainian pilots on American platforms in case the aircraft are deployed in the war against Russia.

“This bill would allow the US to begin training Ukrainian pilots and aircrew members on F-15’s, F-16’s, and other air platforms while the administration continues to consider sending such equipment,” a press release from Kinzinger’s office states.

If this goes through obviously it doesn't provide Ukrainians with the hardware but it does get them ready for fly.

It can also work the other way around, experiencing life in the UK will have an effect.

God knows Boris needs all the support he can get right now, but it's not the job of UK universities to try and convert students from a communist regime country into western democrats.

Whilst it may give some a nice warm feeling inside to offer eastern communists a chance to see how the west operates, the risk of them taking back a bit more knowledge than they're entitled to usurps being "nice" to them. Too risky, too risky by far and getting riskier.

Exactly this, have you seen the fees that international students put down at universities…

I have and just for the Chinese these figures times 150,000 students make for big money. but if a few go back to China with stolen technology it's worth it to the regime.

To save anyone having to Google this is what UK universities are raking in from foreign students:

How Much Does it Cost to Study in the UK?

Updated May 8, 2022

UK tuition fees are frequently a source of controversy, with prices having risen to eye-watering levels for home students (UK/EU) in recent years. Now, UK and EU students at English universities are required to pay up to £9,250 (~US$13,050) per year.
International undergraduate tuition fees vary considerably, starting at around £10,000 (~US$14,130) and going up to £38,000 (~US$53,700) or more for medical degrees (source: Reddin Survey of University Tuition Fees). At all levels, humanities and social sciences degrees tend to cost the least, while laboratory and clinical degree programs are markedly more expensive, but when you combine these fees with the average cost of living in the UK, around £12,200 (~US$16,950) per year, then it can be hard to see how it’s possible to study in the UK without it costing you a small fortune. The total average cost of studying in the UK is estimated to be at least £22,200 (~US$31,380) per year, with studying in London likely to be significantly more expensive.

Now, how many Chinese students have families able to fund these fees, plus food and living and travel and transport costs? Not so many I'd wager, so just WHO is throwing all this money down? The figures from British security agencies for how many investigations into these Chinese students are having to be carried out, and the communist sympathy a lot of university staff seem to carry, suggests to me they all want banning.

Well not to partake too much in this mildly tangential issue, but a particularly ornery government thought it was wise to make it impossible for universities to survive without significant intake of foreign wealth.

Thread reaches new level of barmy...

The UK has far too many universities, (and dodgy colleges that are a blatant front for immigration illegalities), that's why we have so many people with specious degrees looking for work they're never likely to find, stacking shelves in supermarkets, or frittering their time away in internet chat forums.

Even north korea has hypersonic missiles now, and rumors Iran is about to test one. The four axis of evil working together to take down the west.

Chris Wilson in racist CT rant, what a surprise

You are absolutely 100% unwilling to even dream that what Chris said, no matter how ridiculous it sounds, could ever be right and that blindness is something China and Russia depends on to hurt the country. Hell, its even something most Western intelligence agencies and even the Universities themselves are reporting on with another post about China from both the US/UK agencies not 12 posts above you but instead it's just too easy to bury your head and scream LA LA I'M NOT LISTENING just because it's Chris saying it.

How about for just once you read about something yourself first (ignore my links below, find your own) rather than automatically jumping to a pre-determined conclusion based on who posts it, or that just too difficult to ask for?

what a weird unfounded rant

what a weird unfounded rant

Eh? He literally included 8 different links to... like... give the background/establish the foundations of what he was talking about.

I've not seen (m)any posts with that many on here before, it's like the total opposite of "unfounded".

Not so sure, was am interesting documentary about Chinese influence especially in Australia, was an alarming eye opener

They are very much pro Beijing despite the western liberties they enjoy here.

There is genuine security reasons to be worried about maybe some Chinese students being spies, but when people like Chris Wilson mention it they have there own agenda.
Given the money involved and how things work in China there's no doubt some of them with strong Communist party links through their family in order to have such wealth to send their kids to UK universities, but it would be unfair to pigeon hole all of them as commie spies working for the party

I know English can be tricky, but a little grammatical care would go a long way in adding some gravitas to your insults. ;)
