Watching that video just reminded me what absolute delusional moron Corbyn is. Russia has unilaterally decided to steal territory, kidnap and kill the citizens of another sovereign nation yet he frames his response by talking about NATO expansion, right wing elements in Ukraine and Russian speaking Ukrainian's who he assumes might want to live the under rule of the Kermlin yet when it comes to Russia he'll mention a couple of words on their aggression and how he opposes it.

He wants it always did. If nato moves to Ukraine then China hits Taiwan and N korea heads south with Iran pushing west. Then south American pushing north.
This is standard geopolitical Russian policy, say one thing one day and the complete opposite the next - the idea is completely confuse your opponent so that he has no idea what you are actually doing or want
In the last few months Russia has said:
* We will nuke Europe into the ocean
* Nukes are only for preventative measures we will not launch them
* NATO is the enemy
* Ukraine is the enemy
* USA is the enemy
* Europe is the enemy
* The whole world is against us
* We care deeply for the Ukrainians
* We will negotiate
* We will never stop until we are satisfied
* We will take Ukraine in 3 days with the light of our military
* We only want donbass
* We will stop when we are happy
* We haven't even started a war yet, this just a training exercise
* We will put nukes on the Finish border if they try to join NATO
* We will take action of Finland is in NATO, this is a great threat to Russian security
* We are withdrawing and emptying our military base near Finland after they joined NATO
* Putin: I don't care if Finland is in NATO, they can do what they want
As you can see every statement from the Russians contradicts a previous statement; this is intentional

I loathe Corbyn, but what has he said here that is grossly inaccurate? This seems the most honest response I've seen to the whole situation from anyone in the UK government.
Everything.
He mentions NATO ramping up the rhetoric?...yet says nothing about Russia invading, raping and killing civilians etc or threatening the use of nuclear weapons.
Also manages to get a bit of BuT WhAT AboUt IRrAq 1! For good measure

You haven't countered anything he said, just posted whatabouts.
Just because he hasn't mentioned any negative aspects about Russian actions, doesn't mean what he said about Ukraine and NATOs actions before the invasion aren't valid, because they are.
While Corbyn makes some interesting points. I cannot understand why Ukraine should be demilitarised to make Russia feel comfortable, why should a soverign nation demilitarise? You could ask why doesn't Russia demilitarise to make the Eastern Bloc countries feel more comfortable.

'Aggressive NATO expansion'.
A defensive alliance that exists to offer protection and stability against those backwards people in the East. They haven't changed. This guy is genuinely delusional trying to spin it any other way.
Also wants to scrap the Trident because the world is one giant utopia. Same kind of warped mindset.
I could understand but not agree with his adoration for the Soviet Union. However Russia as a fascist warmonger gives me pause as to his thinking. Like Salisbury when he refused to condemn Russia against overwhelming evidence and the rest of Europe and the USA taking action in support of the UK.

It will be interesting to see if these strikes on ammunition depots will have a material impact on the volume of shelling the Russian's are able to sustain over the coming days.
Does seem to be a lot of videos of huge ammo dumps going up in flames all over the place the last week or two. With another two this morning, the one in Donetsk is huge! That’s got to be seriously hurting their logistics and medium to short term ability to fight. I’m sure they’ve got huge stores of shells dotted around Russia but that’s no help if every hub within 100km of the frontline goes boom.
Might explain the sudden lull in fighting despite Putin saying they’ll push on (with only the troops who took the city having a rest). Having to pull ammo in from Belarus isn’t a great sign for them either.

I think a lot of old and new school far (ish) left leaning folks have this inability to separate the communist USSR from the gangster state Russia is now.
I’m slightly left leaning in thinking but can’t fathom why anyone would want to live in/under either. I’d love the world to be a utopian communal post-scarcity world a la Star Trek or the Culture books but you’ve got to be realistic!
