why would a £2k 4090 make the current one any cheaper ?It'll be worth about 400 quid in a few months when the 4000 series is out. The is why I never buy the top model and instead got a 3080 as the performance is very similar for less than half the cost and will lose a lot less on resale.

I'd expect new card supply to stabilise much faster than last time and with nvidia jumping from Samsung 8nm to TSMC the performance gains from this gen should be quite good. Expecting a 4060ti to match a 3090 but with better RT so the price should settle around that point once stock stabilises. If people dump them in prep for buying a 4xxx GPU there might be a small window where this happens. Probably not as low as £400, but I can see 3090s being £600-700 across a lot of sales.
What will likely happen though is even with the crypto market dead at the moment and GPU availability better than it was in 2020, the 4xxx cards will still initially sell out. Then you'll have the same panicked sellers trying to rebuy the GPUs they sold a week or two before the 4xxx launch just to have a working system. This catapults price back up.
People never learn, don't sell your GPU until you have your new one in hand lol. If you literally can't afford to upfront the cost of a GPU without selling your current, then one could ask if it's a wise use of your money in the first place. Especially later this year.
You might be right but that doesn't give you the right to go about flaming someone's GPU purchase. Have some humility or are you just like this all the time with everyone? You'll learn I guessFirstly, why would I be butt hurt?.
And finally, it was a poor purchase, timing stinks, and the reasoning you used stinks even more. The 3090 will pale in comparison to the stuff thats around the corner, especially when you focus on something like 4k, thats where the gap will widen even more, and where the longer lasting GPU is even more important being more gpu bound at the 4k ress and less focus on the CPU, this would give the system a much longer life span. Put simply, in a 24 month cycle, who the hell buys the high end at month 20, used with no warranties, a gpu which will be trashed for a lower price, ugh. Doesn't matter how you try and spin it, a bad purchase is a bad purchase.
I kind of disagree I think he's done alright there tbh only time will tell if of course. To be perfectly honest, its a terrible time to buy a 3090 second hand, even @ £600, around the corner we have GPUs that for 500-600 will trounce the 3090ti.....brand new with warranty and significantly stronger ray tracing performance...its just, **** poor time to buy, unless your card literally failed, in which case a used 1070 would still be the better bet and then buy new....so either way, sorry but, its just people being desperate for something to buy/use and lacking the patience to make the smart purchase.
Remember, with PC tech..Today's King of the hill...is tomorrows bargain bin, back of the bus, Billy no mates loser.
My 9900K is feeling rather lonely at the back, thesedays

, need an excuse to buy the next best thing.why would a £2k 4090 make the current one any cheaper ?
It won't. But what about it in a scenario where a £550 4070 is putting out;
- 20% faster @1080
- 10% faster at 2K and although a bit slower at 4k raster...
- 15% faster for DLS (upscaled) RTX @ 4K.
If you think its going to be still worth £600 come Jan, you had best hope there is an army of Maya users (not the type to go 2nd hand tbh [unless students]) are waiting to pick up 24gb cards.
Firstly, why would I be butt hurt?.

thats a lot of gaming.I was looking at a 3090 on the bay of e and the description said `used for gaming only`, went to look at his other items for sale and there was another 5 3090`s , hmmmmmmmm![]()
I believe there were a number of 3D artist that had a field day when 2080ti's were selling for cheap. If you think its going to be still worth £600 come Jan, you had best hope there is an army of Maya users (not the type to go 2nd hand tbh [unless students]) are waiting to pick up 24gb cards.
Imagine nvidia does an rtx 4000 reveal with just one card costing 2k, it would be a massive own goal publicity wise, they'll have atleast 3 cards in the reveal and atleast one will be priced well to get the hype train moving.now back to reality, the 4070 may not with us until going on to next summer if the rumours are true about the 4080 being nudged in to next year. the ONLY 4000 card due this year is the 4090 by the looks of it which will probably ship for £2k, hence my comment.
yes IF the 4070 drops and IF it does have such specs the 3090 is toast but that has to happen, and dont expect nvidia to sell it that cheap if they have plenty of 3080/90 cards laying around.

I also doubt the 4090 will cost 2k but rather around the same price point as a 3090.
They were always hot products. Blame Samsung. Those 3090s will be hot products on ebay if they go for cheap.

i dont get this tbh because each new gen mid card is often as fast old top card.It happens so fast as well. The people who bought the 2080 Ti must have been feeling sore when the 3070 Ti was their equal at less than half the price.
