I didn't realise how vulnerable Russia oil ships currently are; they're spending long amounts of time in the Atlantic Ocean doing transfers from ship to another - imagine that, a billion dollar ships just standing still in the middle of the ocean for days, just ripe for pirates to come take it.

I was doing that in 2015 when I was working for one of the oil majors. On a UK flagged tanker we were going through the Kiel canal into the Baltic, into St Petersburg and loading Russian crude, then sailing back out through the Danish Straits and Skaw into the North Sea, where we were meeting other ships, usually Maltese flagged who we were then doing a ship to ship transfer with, who would then go into Rotterdam to discharge. We also did it once by loading Russian oil in Silamae, Estonia that had been brought by train from Russia to the port, but that took ages.

As a UK flagged vessel we couldn’t have taken Russian oil from a Russian port or vessel to Rotterdam without violating sanctions placed on Russia in the wake of the annexation of Crimea in 2014, but by transferring the oil to a 3rd party vessel, that oil became for all intents and purposes, a cargo from the UK, and not Russia.

He might want to retire somewhere hidden, I mean I doubt many will shed any tears if a drone strike was to hit him down the line for Mariupol war crimes.

And them Tik Tok warriors are catching nothing but an early grave.

All forms of camouflage have basically been rendered useless thanks to drones, there's nowhere you can hide unless you're underground, also no chance of hiding any military build up anywhere because there's cameras and social media everywhere spotting it all

Something like Operation Overlord or Market Garden done today would have zero chance of success

Not to mention
Kadyrov being weird as usual:

Also claimed in a voice note that he'd have taken Kyiv but Putin didn't let him:

Maybe he does just want to retire and bugger goats or something?

Just waiting for the trolling dog memes..

Market Garen was an airborne operation though, they don't know where the DZ is going to be even if they see the buildup. Likewise with Operation Overlord, they knew of the risk of the operation but didn't know where the landings would take place.

The big advantage is just that they're relatively cheap/don't cost you an expensive to train pilot when they're shot down ergo you can have more of them + thermal imaging etc..

At my old unit we had a former Royal Artillery officer who served in WW2 come in and give a presentation, he didn't work on a gun line, he was a pilot albeit his job was to direct and adjust artillery fire just as the Ukrainians are using drones to do today.

The guys in the 93rd brigade are working overtime. I've seen countless reports of them fighting all over the Donbass and Kharkiv regions smashing up Russian forces and equipment.
Imagine the absolute state of Russian morale as a result.

You pull into town in your BTR armoured personnel carriers, your BMP infantry fighting vehicles and your T-80 tanks, you take over, you get dug in, your feeling like you're bossin it. Then your Ukrainian counterparts arrive in their BTR armoured personnel carriers, their BMP infantry fighting vehicles and their T-80 tanks, and proceeded to straight up wreck your **** then chase you out of town.

You can't even blame it on the equipment, you just suck and you know it xD

The 93rd shifted farther south and kept fighting. The 93rd has fired so many of the American-made Javelin anti-tank missiles that officers have struggled to dispose of the missiles’ spent tubes.

Same with the RPGs in that region - I hope they can keep the supply of anti-tank ordnance coming.

Not sure if it's true, but I read that the amount of ATGM ammunition sent to Ukraine exceeds the total number of Russian tanks, even if you count the many thousands they have in deep storage in Siberia and rusting in scrapyards
