Iv been working for the last 2 weeks selling a ton of my other hobby stuff i had to help fund a new Gaming PC, i have a 1440p ASUS gaming monitor i bought of a friend to run with a 2060 (dont laugh too loud) so I ended up just not using the PC and the rest of the components are I kid you not 8 or so years old.

Im trying to decide on which gpu to get to pair with my monitor, reading that the new 4000 series GPUs are likely going to be delayed and drip fed over the next few months which im not prepared to wait for if true. What would be my best budget card from AMD. I years ago had a 280x and loved it so iv no issue with AMD at all.

Is it right to assume the 6700XT is roughly comparable to to a 3070 ?If thats the case there are some great prices on them at the moment

Thanks

Im going to put it on market place this weekend to try and add another 120 quid to my budget
What's your budget you can get a 6750xt for £450 and a 6800 for £530.

@robwigan - you may find this table useful to help see how AMD and NVIDIA cards stack up across various generations

Iv still not decided i guess as its a full system build that is being done and im aiming for £1200 max for the tower itself
Yep do some research before you decide, but if primarily Gaming Cpu wise the intel 12400 or Amd 5600 offers the best value to performance.

RDNA 2 Cards are excellent. I have had an MSI Gaming 6800 for 18 months and it is without doubt the best graphics card I have owned. zero issues with drivers. So impressed that I bought my 2 sons RDNA 2 cards as well. a 6600XT and the really overlooked but excellent 6700.
Only issue is raytracing but honestly I couldn't give two monkeys about. Will most likely upgrade to RDNA3 this year.
I think having these cards in the latest two consoles also helps with game performance and drivers.

I find TPU GPU database Replative Performance chart quite good

Although in your place I would hold on to 2060 until RDNA3 and Nvidia 4000 are out.

If you can up it to 700 quid this offers great performance for the price.

This is also very good for the money, both are priced well.

The 3080 is an ultimate winner as it does RT better and has more features but costs more, the 6800 XT is priced very competitively.

3070 is roughly RX 6800, but is better in RT games and has more features, does struggle with FC6 if using 4K texture pack.

from what i have seen the 4000 isnt going to be out for some time and will be drip fed.

The tier you are targeting likely wont be out or should I say obtainable till after xmas on the new gen. They (both brands) are set to release the high end first, so it could be a while till a 7600xt or a 4070 are available. If you can wait that long then do so. Reiterating alec post above using the 2060 till then.

However there should be some fire sales kicking off around now the closer we get to announcement and launch period.
