Do love me some map painting

I think we're at the stage where Putin can either fold, or go all in and he doesn't strike me as the folding typeSome tweets seem to be suggesting there's a chance of it being "game over" soon... no more units to be sent, Putin scrapped a meeting with generals recently.

Nicholas wasn't for folding either until the decision was made for him, his entire family and all his allies.I think we're at the stage where Putin can either fold, or go all in and he doesn't strike me as the folding type
Not that simple, to effectively run Crimea you need you control the dam at Nova Horlivka that supplies fresh water to Crimea. Without it Russia has to ship fresh water in via boats which isn't ideal.Perhaps Russia thinks if it stops then Ukraine will leave Crimea alone

Hopefully he won't have a long and happy retirement. Russians don't tend to be too forgiving towards failed leaders though. What a waste of life by Putin for his sick fantasy, now look where he ended up probably down the barrel of someone gun soon enough.
Would mobilisation even help - they can't logistically support the soldiers thay already have, adding to the numbers just makes the problem worse. Could they arm and equip whoever they call up, scraping the barrel now.Might not be his choice. What do you mean by "go all in" in this context? Like mobilisation? That's going to take some time and they're already not sending new units apparently + as per the previous post they've seemingly have had a bit of a farce/mass surrender in the south today - I'm sure details are to follow on that.
If he backs down someone is going to get scapegoated hard. What a waste of life by Putin for his sick fantasy, now look where he ended up probably down the barrel of someone gun soon enough.
