Number 6 engine shut down, it was circling to burn off fuel and landed safely after several hours.
Putin's Key Man in the Arctic Found Dead After Falling Overboard
Pechorin worked under Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Russian publication Komsomolskaya Pravda,Ivan Pechorin, 39, managing director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, reportedly fell off a boat at full speed and died Saturday near Russky Island in the Sea of Japan in Primorsky Krai, Russia, near Vladivostock, about 5,800 miles east of Moscow.
Just a big bomb truck - they are bought and paid for, relatively cheap to run.I'm sure the internals are all hyper modern, but surely things have come a long way in 70 years?
I'm not so sure it's people he considers treacherous or even as an example for others close to him who might be thinking of pushing him out of a window. It could honestly be regional resistance growing and possibly turning to outright insurgency in the future.Another one of Putin key men dies
Had he recently been critical of the "special operation" in Ukraine?Another one of Putin key men dies
Personally no for me.Surely there needs to be some sort of negotiated settlement eventually, or is that not possible after the way Putin has behaved thus far?
They've been using both this entire conflict by the sounds of things and it's changed nothing. The thing to worry about with Russia now that they're actively pulling out of areas, is are they going to lob in a few chemical and/or biological warheads out of spite? We know they have no qualms about using such weapons, as evidenced by them using a nerve agent and murdering an innocent UK citizen in Salisbury.
It will be flying until 2050, although they could extend that further. And as mentioned, they've been wanting to replace the engines for a while, but haven't yet due to complications and funds. I was at the end of the runway behind one a few years ago when it took off, you don't get to see them take off though because as soon as they throttle up, there's just a massive cloud of black smoke that obscures it; very old engines.I know they have been retrofitted again and again (hence we are on H versions now) but it's mad to me that a plane first developed in 1952 is still the mainstay of a nuclear bombing fleet.
Even the H model is using engines from the 1950's. No wonder it was so loud when I heard it recently.

I think you are giving them to much credit, they really are in trouble now. The tank battalion, the cream of the crop, the best they have which is tasked with defending Mosco and the kremlin is decimated. they threw them in and lost them.Russia still has extensive stocks of weapons, ammunition, vehicles, etc. that it has not committed. What? Do you think they've left their borders undefended? Come on. Russia is getting humiliated in Ukraine, but let's not exaggerate just how threadbare their cupboard is.
And, yeah, throwing conscripts into Ukraine isn't going to win them the war. Probably there is nothing they can do to win this war. But that doesn't mean that it is over, Russia's occupying forces are going to collapse, and Ukraine is going to sweep across the remaining occupied territories in a matter of weeks. It's more likely that there months or years of fighting ahead.
Yeah, but the problem is always one of training and equipping them. All the stuff flooding in from the West is helping, but there are still reports of many units lacking basics like helmets, uniforms, and medical equipment.

This is pretty crazy, Russia really has just burned through some of its best units... it's trashed the VDV and Naval Infantry, they're the elite light infantry units within the Russian military and now it seems that most of (what was left of, after their initial big losses) the 1st Guards Tank Army, a well-equipped unit that's supposed to protect Moscow, has basically been wiped out.
