I think we also gave them some vehicle mounted versions, which are even more dangerous for Russia's airforce. They have no way of stopping or even detecting incoming starstreaks.

What could they possibly get out of asking for volunteers from prison.

Is there something worth stalling for to stoop so low? Some goal beyond throwing **** at the wall.

Desperate for man power but general mobilisation is a huge risk. Run out of destitute peasants that will fight for pay. Scraping the very bottom of the barrel.
 
I just dont see how a general mobilisation works for Russia. Surely your everyday Russian is going to have zero interest in fighting in Ukraine. If Russia were being invaded then sure, you fight. But not in Ukraine.

It will be interesting to see what they do if Ukraine goes for Crimea...

Yup seems like they're trying to push more war footing on their propaganda media.

Still don't really see it working though, I suspect more support is heading to Ukraine short term.

If they can drive the Russians out before any general mobilisation can ramp up, they will be onto a winner. Not sure if they'd have the time though before winter sets in.

The majority of people aren't watching it because it bores them so no I don't think people will demand more war beyond the stupid fascists that make up like at most 1/5th of Russia. These people have become rather agitated with both losing members of their faction in Ukraine as well as their crumbling self-image being revealed to them as a shoddy lie making them a mess.

In reality the Russian government is now desperate for NATO to step in and provide them with an excuse for their failure before the walls collapse on them.

Winter setting in will be bad for Russia, I can't see them having winter gear or anything like that.
 
All those criminals in shoddy gear being told to run at heavily defended lines against an enemy that very likely will be in Winter gear whilst it's -5°C* outside, pfft ok good luck with giving them guns. Also highly suspect that Russians will be dealing with a lot of trench foot during the wet seasons before and after winter so that's an extra spicy moment for them to endure.

*not -20°C, silly me

If it goes to full scale war then US would most like supply longer range missiles to strike inside Russia,.

I cant see The west keeping Ukrains hands tied if it goes all out war, that would be Russia ramping things up.

Try 1/4, out of a population of 144 million, even 1/10 would be absolutely massive numbers of manpower

Also the ones not watching state tv, they can't escape the losses & defeats, eventually they too will be beating the drums of war for Mother Russia to be victorious again, it's pretty obvious from the ramp up of state TV, they're setting the ground work for a war footing, Putin has little choice, Ukraine are already ahead in training fresh blood to put into the fight, Russia can't really waste any more time and they definitely can't pull out and no exit ramp will be afforded to Putin
